The Role in a Nutshell  

As a Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails) with at least 3 years of experience on large-scale projects, you will join our vibrant Engineering team and play a key role in shaping backend systems. You will be responsible for designing and building robust APIs, microservices, and data-driven solutions. While this role is primarily backend-focused, experience with React or a strong willingness to learn it is considered a plus.

 

Your Day-to-Day 

• Be part of a fun, diverse, and like-minded developer team that thrives on innovation and knowledge sharing
• Own the Backend: Develop new features, optimize existing services, and maintain critical APIs in Ruby on Rails
• Collaborate closely with our Product, Data Science, and Design teams to build well-researched, high-impact features—our devs have plenty of product ownership!
• Partner with QA & MLOps to ensure our applications stay reliable, scalable, and efficient
• Solve challenging technical problems and work with complex data to deliver seamless user experiences
• Mentor junior engineers (and keep learning a ton yourself!)
• Dive into internal meetups and discussions on a variety of software engineering topics

 

Your Key Strengths

• 3+ years of professional, hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails development
•  Advanced proficiency with SQL, including expertise in PostgreSQL and complex relational schema design
• Strong background in architecting RESTful APIs, microservices, and asynchronous backend systems
• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and testing frameworks such as RSpec
• Deep understanding of backend scalability, performance optimization, and security best practices
