What’s the Role?
Operations Lead – Chilca We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Operations Lead to join our team in Chilca. In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring products satisfy customer requirements, specifications, and delivery expectations through the leadership of production and despatch staff and processes. You will be accountable for work being undertaken in a safe, cost-effective manner to achieve Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost within Bradken’s policy and procedural framework. You will also drive customer-focused, continuous improvement activities related to optimizing resources and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership & Organisation: Lead, coach, and develop the operations team (Supervisors and Team Leaders) to achieve high output with high engagement. This includes setting performance objectives , coaching supervisors on decision-making , and managing performance.
- Safety, Sustainability and Quality: Actively maintain and promote a proactive safety and sustainability culture. Role model safe behaviours , conduct safety interactions , ensure all incidents are reported and investigated , and ensure all employees have the required safety training.
- Work Planning & Scheduling: Establish short-term (up to 1 year) operational work plans, allocate resources, and schedule work priorities. Scope, prioritise, plan, and execute improvement projects for the operating unit.
- Functional Role: Lead production & despatch operations to meet manufacturing and quality standards. Manage working capital and raw materials , ensure correct cost management , and report on production and despatch performance.
Our Ideal Candidate meets the following criteria: Qualifications:
- Qualifications in Metallurgy, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering or a combination of relevant industry experience.
- Frontline Leadership qualification.
- (Preferred) Metal trade-based education background (pattern making, moulding or similar).
Experience:
- Extensive experience in a production supervisory position.
- Experience working within a heavy manufacturing or foundry environment.
- Experience at developing and executing short and long-term production plans.
- Experience of managing teams is essential.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing processes, quality systems, and health and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving, production planning, and written/verbal communication skills.
Location: The position will be based at our Chilca Foundry, located at G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (transportation will be provided).
