About the Role:
As a Leading Hand Boilermaker, you will show up each day with a sense of great pride and commitment to helping ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest quality.
Typical duties may include:
- Leading a crew with the guidance of managers and supervisors.
- Assisting in the planning of workshop production by providing input to be able to maximise productivity gains and improve efficiencies
- Perform fabrication duties and welding techniques including, but not limited to, GMAW, FCAW with the ability to pass an AS1554.1 weld tests to the above techniques - if required
- Accurately reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Providing training and mentoring of apprentices and production employees
- Acting as a key resource for problem solving, offering guidance and support
- Sourcing and providing technical information and advice to staff and operations personnel.
- Ensuring infrastructure (plant and services, tools and equipment, jigs and fixtures, materials handling, etc.) is checked regularly and kept in good working order
- Ensuring all workshop activities are carried out in compliance with ISO9001, Bradken policies and procedures, and relevant safety regulations.
- Participation in internal and external audits where required
- Assisting in the development and installation of capital proposals where required
To be successful in the role, you will need:
You will have the enthusiasm and passion to step up and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities. You will champion safety, mentor less experienced staff, and help deliver great results.
You will also have:
- Recognised Trade Qualification essential (Engineering Fabrication preferred)
- +5 years’ Fabrication trade experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of safe working procedures
- Sound numeric reasoning
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques
