Technical Writer

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation related to Bradken specifications and product range. This documentation will be intended for the targeted customer group and internal users and will include product manuals, maintenance guides, procedural documentation, user manuals, checklists, and more

You will need to collaborate with the broader team and assist in creating documentation to support Product Development systems and processes. Additionally, you will participate in executing systems integration for the Product Development team
With your excellent design expertise, it is crucial to have a solid understanding of the design and manufacturing processes in ferrous metallurgy. You should also excel in creating presentations for stakeholder design reviews and producing documentation and manuals that outline technical specifications for both internal and third-party manufacturers.
With your strong planning and organizational skills, prepare technical documents for review and release, ensuring tasks are completed promptly and meet high standards, and comply with industry and Bradken’s internal specifications for design and engineering work.
You will assist with the changeover to new designs for superseded parts, and the disposal of existing components with the assistance of order processing, inventory and sales teams. You will provide the information required to update the product catalogue & technical support to the Sales/ Procurement Team.
Key Technical Criteria
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, plus relevant workplace experience.
- Knowledge of production/ manufacturing processes and techniques related to ferrous metallurgy in heavy manufacturing industry.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technology clearly.
- Technical writing, product/ process understanding and presentation skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc,)
- Experience in managing projects across engineering disciplines, customer sites, external contractors, and research institutions.
- Knowledge of mechanical components, systems, and design principles; mechanical design experience would be advantageous.
