Senior Tax Accounting Manager

About the Role
As a Senior Tax Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in managing Groupon’s global tax compliance, accounting, and reporting processes. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure accurate tax provision calculations under ASC 740, optimize tax-related processes, and support strategic tax planning initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, ever-evolving global e-commerce business.
This role is based in Chicago and will require 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Review tax accounting treatments, reconcile tax accounts, and assist with statutory tax accounting requirements.
- Partner with external auditors, advisors, and cross-functional teams to support tax-related matters.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, develop and implement procedural improvements, and support SOX certification compliance.
- Prepare and analyze tax models to support tax strategy and decision-making.
- Utilize OneSource Tax Provision software to enhance reporting and compliance efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA certification preferred; MST is a plus).
- 8+ years of tax and accounting experience, ideally in a corporate tax or public accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 tax provisions and tax accounting principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel expertise preferred) and experience with OneSource Tax Provision software.
- Familiarity with Checkpoint tax research software is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Passion for mentoring and developing junior tax team members.
- Enthusiastic, adaptable, and eager to take on challenges in a rapidly evolving industry.
