Manager, Software Engineering II - Backend

You’ll spend time on the following:

You will take full ownership of the project deliveries of our global platform applications and ensure that we deliver the best outcome for our customers

You will collaborate within the team and outside teams in the organizations to ensure that required business features, high performance and cost effective solution are implemented effectively

Drive technical discussion and decisions within the team’s scope, participate in design and code reviews
-
Hire and develop the team members and manage their performance actively
-
You will own multiple projects and teams may including other managers
-
You will foster culture of collaboration, ownership and accountability
-
You will evangelize the best practices for agile development practices
-
You will make process improvements to ensure alignment with company values and optimize the resources
We’re excited about you if you have:
-
BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering from a recognised institute
-
10+ years of overall industry experience with 4 years of leadership (hands-on engineering management) role in developing and supporting web applications, micro services in distributed environment
-
Experience with managing platform services, delivering projects in dynamic environment
-
Experience with managing high performance individuals in different timezones
-
Good communication and collaboration skills and ability to deal with ambiguity.

Strong experience in programming languages - Java and competent in designing and building enterprise-scale applications, common frameworks, etc.
-
Experience building and scaling large scale distributed systems and development experience with service-oriented architectures/microservices
-
Prior AWS/GCP/Azure/Pivotal Cloud Foundry experience is a must.
-
Experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka etc.
-
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes desired
-
Experience with both Relational(MySQL, Postgres) and Non-relational Databases(Cassandra, MongoDB) etc.
-
Experience with ecommerce and/or SaaS based systems
-
Experience with front-end technologies like Javascript, ReactJS, NodeJS, PreactJS etc. is a plus.

Experience with cache like Memcache, Redis, Aerospike etc.,
-
Experience and understanding of development frameworks like Spring, Play, DropWizard etc.
-
Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Hive, HBase is a plus.

Knowledge of software best practices, like Test-driven Development (TDD), and Continuous Integration/Delivery (CI-CD), Terraform based Infrastructure As Code (IAC), Wavefront, ELK, Splunk etc

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Ability to work collaboratively through an agile development process that promotes constant team communication
