Role Overview
We're at the forefront of developing innovative eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing), and we're looking for a CAT 1 Test Pilot to join our mission of creating the future of urban air mobility. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently executing modification, system upgrade, and certification flight test programs for our cutting-edge eVTOL aircraft. You'll play an essential part in validating the integration of existing and new systems, performance, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Execute Flight Tests: Safely and accurately conduct flight test programs related to eVTOL aircraft modifications, system upgrades, and type certification, adhering to established protocols and procedures. This includes evaluating the performance of existing systems, validating new functionalities, and assessing emergency procedures.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect critical performance, system, and handling data during flights and collaborate with the engineering team to analyze this data. Your focus will be on comparing baseline performance of existing systems with post-modification performance.
- Provide Feedback: Offer detailed and constructive feedback on aircraft handling, system functionality, human factors, and safety to the engineering and design teams. Evaluations must be based on existing operational requirements and aviation authority standards.
- Contribute to Test Planning: Actively contribute to the development and review of flight test plans, procedures, and safety assessments. Particular emphasis will be placed on evaluating risks and considering mitigation strategies associated with modifications and system changes.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Consistently adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring all flight test activities comply with applicable aviation regulations, especially those pertaining to type certification.
- Emergency Response: Exercise sound judgment and execute necessary procedures in the event of an emergency to ensure the safety of the aircraft and its occupants.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate and detailed reports on flight test results, observations, and recommendations, contributing to various documents required for type certification acquisition.
* This position requires long-term business trips to test sites in Toyota City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and other locations.
Essential Skills
- Strong commitment to the highest level of safety in flight testing.
- Proven Flight Test Pilot experience, especially in aircraft modifications, system evaluations, or type certification testing.
- In-depth understanding of aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and flight mechanics.
- Hold a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating, and Class 1 Medical Certificate.
Desirable Skills
- Practical experience in the eVTOL industry.
- Business-level Japanese and English proficiency or higher.
- Flight Test Engineering experience or related training.
- A degree in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field.
- Test pilot experience with JAXA, Ministry of Defense, or international aerospace agencies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking in complex systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive cross-functional projects.

- Long-term business trips to test sites in Toyota City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, etc., will occur depending on the flight test schedule.

Working Hours
- Flextime or Discretionary labor system
- In the case of flextime: No core time
- In case of Discretionary Labor System: Specialized Class Deemed working hours per day: 10 hours
- Basic working hours: Start 9:00 End 18:00(Including 1hour break time)
- Overtime Work: Available
Holidays
- 115 days off per year(Saturday / Sundays / Newyear holidays(12/29~1/3) / Company designated holidays)

Salary
- Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 7,000,000- JPY 12,960,000
- Monthly Salary: JPY 584,000- JPY 1,084,000
- Includes fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, amounting to JPY 202,181 - JPY 375,239
*Additional overtime pay will be provided for hours exceeding the fixed overtime.
