Electrical System Safety Engineer
Outline of the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical System Safety Engineer to support the development and certification of next-generation eVTOL aircraft. The ideal candidate combines strong system-level safety assessment capabilities with deep technical understanding of electrical components, architectures, and failure behaviors. This role focuses specifically on HV/LV power generation, distribution, and high-voltage charging systems, ensuring they meet stringent aerospace safety requirements through rigorous analysis, design influence, and supplier coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) specifically for the electrical power system, ensuring compliance with ARP4761.
- Work alongside electrical design engineers to define safety requirements for power distribution units, converters, batteries and battery management systems (BMS).
- Translate high-level safety goals into technical requirements for systems, hardware and software teams.
- Review safety documentation from Tier 1 suppliers (like battery or power distribution units’ manufacturers) to ensure their components integrate safely into the aircraft.

Essential Skills
- 5+ years in Aerospace or High-Performance Automotive (EV) safety engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of ARP4754A and ARP4761 (Aerospace) OR ISO 26262 (Automotive Functional Safety).
- Experience with DC Power Distribution.
- Proficiency in safety analysis software (e.g., CAFTA, Relyence, or Ansys Medini).
Desirable skills
- Acquaintance to High Voltage (400V+) architectures and Battery Management Systems.
- Familiarity with eVTOL-specific certification paths (EASA SC-VTOL or FAA Powerlift).

Working Hours
- Flextime or Discretionary labor system

Salary
- Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 6,850,000- JPY 11,000,000
