About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Staff member to join our Technical Strategy team. This role is critical in shaping the company's long-term technical direction, driving strategic initiatives, and aligning technical capabilities with overall business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong strategic thinking, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams at the highest level. As a Senior Staff member, you will play a key role in defining and executing the company’s technical roadmap, ensuring that technology decisions are aligned with business goals and market trends.
What You Will Do:
Technical Strategy and Vision:
  • Develop and execute the long-term technical strategy for the organization, aligning with business goals and industry trends.
  • Lead strategic technical initiatives that drive innovation, competitive advantage, and operational excellence across the company.
  • Work closely with the executive team and other senior leaders to influence and shape the company's technology roadmap and architecture.
  • Analyze emerging technologies and market trends to identify opportunities and risks for the company’s technical direction.
Architectural Leadership:
  • Provide thought leadership and technical guidance on complex architectural challenges, ensuring that the company's technology stack is future-proof, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Drive the design and implementation of innovative architectures and solutions that improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure technical decisions are aligned with business priorities and market demands.
  • Ensure that the company's architecture adheres to best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Initiatives and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute on strategic technical initiatives, ensuring collaboration and alignment across departments.
  • Drive the development and execution of strategic programs that improve engineering efficiency, technical scalability, and time-to-market.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic insights and technical recommendations to support business goals.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of new technologies, tools, and platforms that align with the company’s technical strategy.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies:
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the company’s strategy and operations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the engineering organization, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of new tools and technologies.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with technology vendors, industry leaders, and research institutions to enhance the company’s technical capabilities.
  • Actively participate in industry events, conferences, and communities to stay informed about the latest developments in technology.
Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Mentor and guide senior engineers, architects, and technical leaders, fostering their growth and development within the organization.
  • Serve as a role model for technical excellence, influencing the engineering culture across the company.
  • Lead efforts to improve technical standards, processes, and best practices, ensuring that the organization is positioned for future growth and success.
  • Collaborate with HR and talent teams to develop and implement talent strategies that attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent.
What You Will Need:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree or equivalent experience demonstrates deep expertise in technical leadership.
Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in technical roles, with at least 8 years in senior leadership or technical strategy positions within large, complex organizations.
  • Proven track record of defining and executing long-term technical strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
  • Extensive experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale technical initiatives and solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating and adopting emerging technologies that align with strategic business goals.
Technical Skills:
  • Technical Strategy: Strong expertise in defining and executing technical strategies that align with business goals and industry trends.
  • Architectural Expertise: Deep understanding of software and system architecture, cloud infrastructure, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Emerging Technologies: Experience with evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, such as AI/ML, blockchain, IoT, or edge computing, and their application to business needs.
  • Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, and the ability to design and implement cloud-native solutions.
  • DevOps and Automation: Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code to drive automation and operational efficiency.
Leadership and Communication:
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-suite executives.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong problem-solving mindset, capable of navigating ambiguity and making informed decisions that support long-term company success.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Agile Leader (CAL), or equivalent Agile certifications.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or similar certifications.
  • TOGAF Certified Architect or relevant architecture certifications.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale technical transformations, including cloud migrations, technology stack modernization, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, regulatory compliance, and data privacy, with experience ensuring that technical architectures meet industry standards.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation for large technical programs and initiatives.
  • Active involvement in industry groups, conferences, and technical communities to stay at the forefront of innovation and technology trends.
