Hiring Manager: Director of Product Design

Role Purpose 

 Why this role matters: As our founding Staff User Researcher, you will be the voice of our users across multiple markets and languages, establishing how Beyond ONE understands and empathizes with our diverse customer base. Your work will transform assumptions into validated insights, ensuring every product decision is grounded in real user needs. You'll build the research practice that helps us design products our users love, not just products we think they'll use. 

What success looks like: In your first year, you'll establish our research operations from scratch, deliver foundational insights that reshape our product strategy, and enable teams across the organization to embrace user-centered design. You'll conduct critical research across our Arabic and Spanish-speaking markets, build a research repository that becomes our single source of truth, and launch continuous discovery programs that keep us connected to our users' evolving needs.

From conducting scrappy guerrilla research to establishing sophisticated research programs, you'll shape how a global company understands its users. 

Key Responsibilities 

 In this role, you will: 

  • Conduct hands-on research across the full spectrum of methodologies—from ethnographic studies to usability testing—with fluency in Arabic or Spanish to engage our global user base.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Design to embed research into the design process and ensure user insights drive creative decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to identify research opportunities, validate concepts, and measure product success.
  • Build research operations from the ground up: establish participant recruitment pipelines, create research repositories, and implement tools and processes.
  • Synthesize complex findings into compelling narratives that inspire action and build empathy across the organization.
  • Democratize research by training non-researchers, creating templates and playbooks, and establishing guardrails for quality.
  • Develop strategic research programs including user panels, continuous discovery cycles, and journey mapping initiatives.
  • Represent the user perspective in product strategy discussions and executive decision-making.

Qualifications & Attributes 

We're seeking someone who embodies the following: 

Education:  

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, Design, or related field with strong research focus. 

Experience:  

  • 7+ years of user research experience, with at least 3 years in senior/staff-level positions.  
  • Language Requirement: Fluent in Arabic or Spanish (both strongly preferred) to conduct native-language research.  
  • Proven track record of building research practices from scratch in high-growth startup environments.  
  • Deep expertise across research methodologies: – Generative Research (ethnography, contextual inquiry, diary studies) – Evaluative Research (usability testing, concept testing, prototype validation) – Quantitative Research (surveys, analytics integration, statistical analysis)  
  • Experience with modern research tools (Maze, Lookback, Dovetail, Airtable).  
  • Track record of research directly influencing product strategy and business outcomes. 

Research Skills:  

  • Mixed-methods expertise with ability to match the right method to the research question. - Strong synthesis skills finding signal in noise and crafting actionable insights.  
  • Experience with continuous discovery and lean research approaches.  
  • Cross-cultural research expertise with sensitivity to cultural nuances.  
  • Ability to balance rigor with speed in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in Telco or FinTech industries.  
  • Background in both B2B and B2C research.  
  • Fluency in additional languages beyond Arabic/Spanish.  
  • Experience building research practices in MENA and/or LATAM markets.  
  • Design background or strong design partnership experience.
