Technology Operation Manager - IN and VAS

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on telecom engineer to take operational and engineering ownership of our Core Telecom Stack, with focus on Intelligent Network (IN) and Value-Added Services (VAS) platforms. This role sits at the heart of our telecom stack, enabling service innovation, ensuring system stability, and integrating IN/VAS components with host MNO networks, BSS platforms, and our digital application ecosystem.

You’ll work within the Technology Operation Team, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to configure, operate, and optimize core telecom systems like OCS, SCP, USSD GW, SMSC, IVR, DPI and other Telecom Core and IN/VAS components that enable voice, data, and value-added services and products.

 

What You Will Do

System Administration & Operation  

  • Operate and maintain all IN/VAS nodes (e.g., OCS, SCP, SMSC, USSD GW, IVR, MCA, etc.) in alignment with MNO configurations and Beyond ONE product catalogs.
  • Ensure reliable and secure integration with host MNO systems (CAP, MAP, SIP, Diameter, etc.) and internal BSS/OSS platforms.
  • Configure and launch new packages, tariffs, promotions, and service logic in IN systems.
  • Apply telecom service configurations and changes according to internal change management processes
  • Execute operational task including but not limited to:
    • SIM production life cycle management
    • Numbering plan management
    • Voucher\scratch card production and lifecycle management
    • Fraud and Revenue assurance support (SIM boxing, SMS fraud, Wangiri...etc)

Engineering & Incident Management

  • Own Level 2 support for all IN/VAS platforms and various telecom core systems. Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with vendors or other internal teams to resolve incidents.
  • Monitor service KPIs and proactively optimize performance to minimize downtime and customer impact.
  • Support the end-to-end lifecycle of service launches—from design review to testing, implementation, and operational handover.

Integration & Collaboration

  • Work closely with BSS teams, Application teams, and local network operators to enable real-time charging, balance management, and service delivery.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability across cloud-hosted components and on-prem deployments in data centers.
  • Collaborate with Telecom Operation and Support teams to support ongoing projects and resolve integration issues.

Automation & Monitoring

  • Contribute to automation of configuration tasks and monitoring processes using scripting or orchestration tools.
  • Define and manage alarms for critical IN/VAS components, enabling early detection of service degradation.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure systems comply with local regulatory standards and internal security policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for configurations, services, and operational procedures.

 

What You Will Need

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of experience working in IN/VAS platforms (e.g., OCS, SCP, USSD GW, SMSC, IVR).
  • Strong understanding of telecom signaling protocols: MAP, CAP, INAP, SIP, Diameter, SS7, SIGTRAN
  • Proven experience in configuring and operating real-time charging platforms and voice/data/SMS applications.
  • Familiarity with BSS and OSS architectures, telecom mediation, and provisioning workflows.
  • Good understanding of AWS-based deployments or hybrid cloud/on-prem architectures.
  • Good foundational knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including basic troubleshooting, understanding of common protocols
  • Basic Linux system administration skills, such as navigating the file system, reading logs, and managing services

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and incident management capabilities.
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in distributed teams across different geographies and time zones.
  • Proactive, ownership-driven, and excited by complex telecom engineering challenges.

Languages

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
  • Experience with MVNOs or working in LATAM telecom environments is highly desirable.
