Economist Impact —the award-winning events and conferences division of The Economist Group—is looking for a Programme Executive (Events) to support the development of content for event programmes, to secure speakers, to manage speaker relationships as well as internal and external stakeholders. The Programme Executive will independently lead some projects and work closely with programme editors on others.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Manage assigned portfolio of events from start to finish—work in coordination with the Programme Editors on larger projects or alone on smaller projects
  • Manage world- class speaker process on assigned events from start to finish. The process includes research, inviting, liaising, and confirming senior-level speakers from government and private sector to speak at Economist events
  • Project manage all programme-related aspects of assigned events
  • Collect speaker's biographies and photos, set up speaker's preparation calls and email chains, coordinate speaker travel, create pre-event briefing and preparation documents and perform other administrative tasks as required
  • Coordinate with marketing, sponsorship and other teams to ensure smooth planning for and running of events.  Occasional travel to events, including on-site event management as required
  • Act as key sponsor liaison and project manager on assigned events
  • Ensure that written and oral communication meets the high-quality standards of The Economist brand
  • Support sponsor relationship management as needed.

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Excellent project management skills
  • The ability to write to a high standard
  • Government relations or the ability to work at senior level with industry leaders 
  • “High-level” programme development and conference management experience, ideally of working in cross-functional teams
  • Fluent spoken and written English 

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of The Economist and Economist Events brand and position in the marketplace
  • Demonstrable track record of developing events and programmes to deadline and delivery to budget and quality standards
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Cool-headed resourcefulness under pressure
  • A team player mindset
