Main duties and responsibilities
- Proven sub-editing experience, preferably for a weekly business title with extensive experience in a sub-editing role.
- Excellent attention to detail with a passion for eliminating spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, improving readability and ensuring that all content is factually correct.
- Proven digital production experience
Investors’ Chronicle is looking for a full-time experienced print and digital production journalist, with a strong background in sub-editing and print layout, to work on our weekly print magazine and website.
You will be joining an existing combined print and digital production team of five people, and your role will require you to:
- Sub-edit copy to house style for the print magazine and website, working quickly and accurately in a CMS and InDesign.
- Write engaging headlines and standfirsts for print and online, using SEO best practices for online stories.
- Spot and eliminate errors and make improvements to copy.
- Lay out pages in InDesign.
- Create tables in InDesign.
- Create charts/graphics for use in print and online.
- Optimise images for use in print and online.
- Create Alpha PDF reports/charts and tables etc when the Deputy production editor is away
Experience and skills
- Proven magazine layout experience, including the ability to create tables and charts.
- Experience working in a CMS, an understanding of SEO best practices and the ability to create and optimise images and charts for digital publication.
- Ability to learn the IC’s house style and maintain quality.
- Must be an expert in Adobe InDesign and proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel.
- Good general knowledge of investing and finance is desirable but not essential.
