Junior Lawyer

We’re looking for a Junior Lawyer in Cyprus. You will report to the Senior Lawyer of the team, Head of Administration and thereafter to Group General Counsel or, to any senior legal counsel within the team, as appointed by the Group General Counsel. This position, while part of the organization’s wider legal team, will operate specifically in the jurisdictions mentioned below and will imply a significant level of autonomy and expertise in the local applicable legislation.

What you will be doing : 

A. GENERAL OBLIGATIONS:

1. Comply with the Job Description, the Internal Regulations and Internal Procedures of the Employer and the individual employment contract.

2. Signals to the Hierarchical Superior/Departments involved any malfunctions observed in the activity currently carried out, proposes solutions and ways of working that help in a better performance of the activity.

3. Performs any other legal duties assigned by superiors, in accordance with his/ her training and experience.

4. Prepares reports at the request of management.

5. Performs ad hoc tasks when requested by the team leader

6. Participate in improving workflows and procedures

 

B. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES WHICH INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Give accurate and timely counsel to executives and other senior members of staff in a variety of legal topics (corporate law and corporate finance)

2. Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations with respect to Cyprus entities of the Group

3. Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues with respect to Cyprus entities of the Group and its subsidiaries

4. Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust

5. Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights with respect to CY Holding entities and related parties

6. Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces

7. Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization

8. Conduct work with integrity and responsibility

9. Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

10. ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business; promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company;

 

C. HEALTH AND SAFETY INSURANCE

1. Carry out the activity in such a way as not to expose to the risk of occupational injury or illness both the person herself and the other persons participating in the work process,

2. Comply with the legislation in the field of safety and health at work, fire prevention and extinguishing, as well as the "Safety Procedure" specific to her activity, participating in periodic trainings and tests for labor protection and PSI

3. Immediately communicates any situation considered a danger to the safety and health of the employees, as well as any deficiency of the protection systems and informs the superior of the accidents suffered by the person;

4. Cooperates with the employer and/or the designated workers, as long as necessary, to make possible the implementation of any measures or requirements ordered by labor inspectors and health inspectors, for the protection of workers' health and safety;

5. Give first aid in case of work accidents;

 

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business;
  • Is able to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand;
  • Has the ability to work in a highly autonomous role;
  • Can work well in a team;
  • Is fluent in both English and Greek.
