Principal Electrical & Electronics Engineer (E/E Architecture & Sensor Expert) (m/f/d)
We are seeking a highly accomplished Principal Electrical & Electronics (E/E) Engineer to lead the hardware architecture and sensory perception strategy for our most advanced, ruggedized platforms. In this senior technical role, you will be the definitive authority on our E/E architecture, ensuring our systems not only perceive their environment with pinpoint accuracy but also survive and operate flawlessly in the harshest physical and electromagnetic conditions.
You will bridge the gap between complex power systems, rigorous commercial and military compliance standards, and cutting-edge sensor fusion technologies.
To join our team, you should be excited to:
E/E Architecture & Rugged Hardware Design
- System Architecture: Design and own the complete, end-to-end E/E architecture, balancing power budgets, data bandwidth, and system redundancy for mission-critical applications.
- Power & Harnessing: Architect robust power distribution supplies and complex wiring harnesses optimized for high-reliability, high-stress environments.
- Environmental & Mechanical Resilience: Design systems capable of surviving extreme operating conditions. This includes engineering for rigorous IP protection classes (IP65 and above), advanced thermal management/cooling strategies, and high tolerance to shock, vibration, and temperature extremes in accordance with MIL-STD-810 guidelines.
Advanced Sensor Systems & Perception
- Comprehensive Sensor Expertise: Lead the selection, integration, and architecture of diverse sensor suites, including LiDAR, Radar, UWB (Ultra-Wideband), and advanced Camera systems (including thermal and night vision capabilities).
- Advanced Positioning: Drive positioning strategies in highly complex or GNSS-denied environments utilizing non-GNSS positioning techniques, IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units), and INS (Inertial Navigation Systems).
- Analysis & Qualification: Conduct rigorous Field of View (FOV) analysis to ensure zero-blind-spot coverage. Oversee the complete sensor testing, calibration, and environmental qualification lifecycle.
Compliance, EMC & Directives
- EMC & EMI Mastery: Act as the internal expert for Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference. Design hardware from the ground up to minimize emissions and maximize immunity, leading systems through rigorous qualification testing for both commercial standards and MIL-STD-461.
- Regulatory Directives: Ensure full compliance with the European Machine Directive and guide products through successful CE marking processes.
- Safety Integration: Collaborate closely with the embedded software team to ensure the hardware architecture supports functional safety, redundancy, and fail-operational states.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience Level: Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in complex E/E system design and sensor integration, with a proven track record at a Principal or System Architect level.
- Sensors & Perception: Deep technical understanding of the physics, limitations, and data outputs of modern perception and positioning sensors.
- Ruggedization & Mil-Spec: Extensive hands-on experience designing for strict environmental and electromagnetic standards, specifically MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
- Compliance Expert: Deep familiarity with navigating European machinery safety standards and complex EMC testing environments.
- Defense Advantage: Direct experience engineering E/E systems and sensor suites within the defense sector is a strong plus.
