Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d), UGVs & Payload Integration

Munich

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to build our rugged, high-performance robotic vehicles. In this role, you will transform our robotic platforms into complete, field-ready systems that provide critical capabilities to users in demanding environments.

In this hands-on role, you’ll guide designs from concept to deployment, integrating complex payloads and ensuring our systems perform flawlessly under the toughest conditions. You will be shaping the physical hardware that makes a real-world impact.

What You’ll Build

  • Lead the system-level mechanical design for our rugged, off-road robotic platforms.
  • Spearhead the mechanical integration of sophisticated payloads, from sensors and cameras to manipulators.
  • Develop robust solutions for mounting, protecting, and packaging hardware to withstand shock, dust, water, and heat.
  • Define and validate mechanical interfaces that ensure reliability in the field, not just in the lab.
  • Collaborate closely with our electrical and software teams to create fully integrated, high-performance systems.
  • Drive a cycle of rapid prototyping, hands-on testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Balance performance, usability, weight, cost, and manufacturability to deliver optimal designs.
  • Guide your designs from the initial concept through to final production.

What You Bring

  • A track record of 5+ years building and shipping real-world mechanical systems in fields like robotics, automotive, or machinery.
  • Proven experience in complex system integration, moving beyond the design of standalone parts.
  • A holistic approach to design, considering electrical integration, stress, and spatial constraints in harsh, dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in CAD as a tool for creating elegant solutions (we use Autodesk Inventor, but your skills are what matter).
  • Practical knowledge of common fabrication methods, including CNC machining, sheet metal, and welding.
  • A hands-on, pragmatic approach with a bias for action and tangible results.
  • The ability to take ownership and drive projects forward, adapting to a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Fluency in English (German is a plus).
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further.
