Head of Marketing, Smartphone
The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Smartphones Marketing to lead the strategy and execution across our smartphones portfolio. This individual will be the business lead for marketing across the smartphone product line, taking full ownership of driving the success of the category through effective strategy, innovative campaigns, and seamless collaboration across departments. In the short-term this role will also be responsible for software marketing, as it grows within the business.
You’ll be responsible for defining the why, who, and how behind every launch, leading cross-functional teams to build positioning, messaging, and campaigns that break through culture and the smartphone segment. You will work closely with Product, Sales, GTM, Creative, and other teams to ensure product launches and lifecycle management meet company objectives and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
This role requires a rare mix of strategic thinking, creative flair, and operational excellence. It’s for someone who can inspire teams across continents, guide bold work, and stay sharp under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and execute the marketing strategy for the smartphone category, ensuring alignment with company vision and market positioning.
- Own the end-to-end marketing performance for smartphones, including brand positioning, customer acquisition, and lifecycle marketing.
- Drive the marketing vision and roadmap for smartphones, aligning it with broader business objectives and product goals.
- Collaborate closely with Product and GTM teams on the smartphone product roadmap, ensuring that consumer-centric decision-making remains at the core of the strategy.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Product, Sales, Creative, Operations, and other departments to ensure alignment and successful execution of smartphone product launches and ongoing campaigns.
- Work with product development and innovation teams to ensure that marketing strategies reflect customer insights, product features, and market trends.
Marketing Execution & Campaign Management:
- Oversee and execute all marketing campaigns and activities related to smartphone & software products, from pre-launch through to post-launch and lifecycle management.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies, ensuring all marketing touchpoints (digital, social, retail, influencer, etc.) are aligned and impactful.
- Manage the lifecycle of smartphones & software post-launch, ensuring consistent engagement with target audiences and maximizing product longevity.
Performance Analysis & Optimization:
- Establish KPIs to measure the success of smartphone marketing campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to continuously optimize performance.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior to refine marketing strategies and keep the brand relevant in the ever-evolving smartphone industry.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of marketers, setting clear goals, providing guidance, and fostering professional growth.
- Build and nurture a high-performing marketing team with a focus on innovation, creativity, and results-driven approaches.
Branding & Positioning:
- Ensure consistent and compelling brand messaging across all channels, establishing a strong emotional connection with smartphone consumers.
- Enhance the brand’s presence in the smartphone market, ensuring it resonates with both new and existing customers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Proven experience in marketing smartphones or similar consumer electronics, with a strong understanding of the smartphone market, consumer behavior, and industry trends.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Data-driven approach to decision-making with experience using analytics to drive results.
- Experience in go-to-market strategy, product positioning, and lifecycle management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience working in or with tech-driven companies, particularly in the mobile phone or smartphone space.
- Familiarity with eCommerce and retail marketing strategies.
- Strong creative vision with an understanding of digital and traditional marketing channels.
- Experience managing a team and mentoring junior staff.
