The Role:

 

This is a unique opportunity to gain challenging and interesting experience in Man’s Enterprise Engineering Support team that covers Man’s business systems and infrastructure including both in house developed and third-party systems which includes a wide range of asset classes traded; working closely with Business users across Front, Middle & Back office business teams and Technology teams.

 

You'll be responsible for resolving complex business-critical issues and requests maintaining the integrity of systems and ensuring all queries are recorded, completed or escalated appropriately to reflect their time criticality. You should have excellent customer facing skills with an appreciation of the value of communicating to stakeholders particularly during high pressure situations.

 

Proactive monitoring of systems, triage, investigation, resolution and escalation of issues as they arise ensuring that our stakeholders are kept informed throughout.

 

This will include monitoring Critical systems, anticipating and resolving issues as they arise and thinking of ways of reducing common problems. You will also provide 24/5 operational and business support of all critical systems.

 

Our systems operate 24 hours a day from Sunday night to Friday evening. This position will involve working shifts of 9 hours per day, covering UK hours 07:30 – 18:00
 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • 1st level application support for business systems with escalation to 2nd level Application Support team and Dev team members.
  • Acknowledging, Recording and taking ownership of issues using Zendesk, Slack, ServiceNow or Jira system and following through to successful resolution.
  • Focused and well organised, to effectively manage daily issues.
  • Liaise with Internal technology teams, end users or third parties as appropriate.
  • Helpful attitude and assist users in finding out who looks after other applications.
  • Analysing the risk & impact of various tasks and prioritising them.
  • Monitoring business systems; investigating, escalation & resolving alerts.
  • Writing SQL scrips to resolve user queries, testing, release management by following change controls across environments.
  • Contribute to procedures and policies by keeping them up to date in the knowledge base that are available for use by all members of the team.
  • Prepare and distribute daily handover and release notes.
  • Work with internal and external auditors,

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Relevant 1st line / Helpdesk support experience
  • Experience with Windows based environment: Windows 11, Windows Servers, Office 365
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure is essential
  • Meticulously accurate approach to data entry and results review is necessary, high attention to details

Desirable :

  • Database skills: Oracle, MS SQL – script writing abilities would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems: Unix Linux
  • Experience with .Net, Python, MSMQ, RegEx, Powershell
  • Exposure to applications such as Zendesk, Slack, OpsGenie, Nagios, ELK, Automate, Salerio, SWIFT and MoveIT
  • Applications – some experience in or support of trading, portfolio management, risk, settlements, and reconciliation applications.
  • Some business knowledge of financial markets and instruments, with broad asset class – Equities, Derivatives, Options, Credits etc., through previous experience within the financial services sector.
