The Team
This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the largest alternative asset managers. Technology is central to Man’s business strategy, and we are constantly evolving to stay ahead. Our culture embraces change and innovation, with engineering at the heart of our operating platform.
We are looking for a skilled C# Engineer to work within one of our Risk Engineering teams. You will work alongside Investment Risk Managers and other Engineers to deliver solutions that enable daily risk analysis and the continuous improvement of the Man Risk Platform. You should have the enthusiasm for leveraging AI development tools to accelerate delivery and driving their adoption across the team.
A great chance to collaborate, and learn alongside, highly skilled engineers whilst building up core investment risk and data engineering knowledge. New joiners will get the chance to work on the latest and best technologies for the challenges ahead.
Role Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end delivery process — from understanding the problem, designing and developing a solution, and delivering value in production
- Participate in the planning, design, and delivery of longer-term projects alongside senior engineers
- Develop and maintain core tools and services for risk data onboarding, analysis, and quality management at scale
- Collaborate with Risk Officers and other Engineering teams to deliver solutions for Investment Risk across Man Group
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing amongst peers
- Continuously improve production components — reducing technical debt, increasing release quality, and improving resource utilisation
- Support production systems and BAU requests, contributing to the team’s support rota

- Strong delivery-focused approach, ensuring business value is being met
- A proponent of collaborative software engineering practices: code review, unit testing, continuous integration, and refactoring
- Embracing agentic engineering — willingness and ability to work effectively with AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow
- Confident communicator — able to articulate ideas clearly and deal constructively with differing views
- A genuine willingness to learn new technologies, programming languages, and domain knowledge
Advantageous but not required
- Exposure to Python and its scientific ecosystem (numpy, pandas, scipy)
- Experience with data pipeline technologies (e.g. Kafka)
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and workflow orchestration (Airflow)
- Experience with DevOps tooling (CI/CD, Bitbucket, Jenkins/TeamCity)
- Prior experience with financial market data or alternative data
