The Team

Man Group's Enterprise Risk Management team directly supports the Operational Risk and Third-Party Risk Management functions. These functions play a critical role in safeguarding the business by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across our operations and external partnerships. Through robust risk and control frameworks, these functions ensure Man maintains operational resilience while meeting regulatory obligations and protecting stakeholder interests.

 

Role Responsibilities

Process management

  • Support recurring Operational Risk and Third-Party Risk processes end-to-end: operational risk and control data gathering and upkeep; the timely management of control attestations, issues/actions, risk events and indicators; vendor inventory, third party risk assessments, due diligence evidence and ongoing monitoring; SLA/KPI breach tracking.
  • Maintain accurate process artefacts (logs, evidence, timelines), ensure cadence adherence, and escalate exceptions to Risk Managers.

Data maintenance and reporting

  • Own data capture, validation and quality controls across OR/TPRM datasets, minimising data exceptions. 
  • Extract and analyse relevant external industry events, identifying current risks and controls as required.
  • Build and maintain repeatable dashboards and datasets (data modelling, basic dashboarding, scheduled refreshes).
  • Prepare first-cut business and committee board pack exhibits and templates; respond to data queries to support Risk Managers.

Workflow and continuous improvement

  • Administer workflows; run periodic data quality checks, exception reporting and remediation tracking.
  • Design and operate simple Power Automate flows (intake, approvals, reminders, data syncs) to reduce manual effort.
  • Standardise flow charts and process maps; identify and implement efficiency improvements and document changes.
  • Support the development and refinement of the risk and control management system through testing.

 

Key Competencies

  • 2–4 years in Operational Risk and/or Third-Party Risk, or data/process analysis within financial services.
  • Basic knowledge of principals relating to operational risk and control management.
  • Data and tooling: advanced Excel (Power Query, pivots, XLOOKUP), Dashboarding (e.g. Power BI data modelling / visuals); workflow automation tooling (e.g. Power Automate).
  • Risk domain: RCSA, KRIs/KPIs, issues/actions, risk event and near miss capture; TPRM lifecycle (inventory, risk assessments, due diligence, ongoing monitoring).
  • Process discipline: strong documentation (SOPs, control descriptions, data dictionaries); high attention to detail; organised and able to manage multiple cycles.
  • Risk Mindset: Aptitude to question and break down complex issues into tasks and deal with them in a logical manner.
  • Collaboration: effective in a support role to Risk Managers; concise communication; able to engage stakeholders for data collection/clarifications without a heavy stakeholder management focus.
