The Team
This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the largest alternative asset managers in the world. At Man we are constantly looking at better ways of doing things. Our culture embraces change and change is the norm rather than the exception in a constantly evolving organisation and industry.
We are looking for an associate Engineer/Developer to work within our Enterprise Engineering team. The potential candidate is expected to have strong analytical skills and a genuine passion for technology. The work will be a mix of extending and supporting existing systems as well as some involvement with greenfield projects in line with our long-term vision. The work aligns with multiple business functions like Trading, Operations, Risk management, Finance as well as other business streams that are associated with our investment engines.
Technical Competencies:
0-2 years of experience working as a Developer/Engineer, comfortable working in a technical environment with a variety of technologies and techniques.
Role Responsibilities
Our core Enterprise Engineering team is primarily based on MS SQL Server with .net services interacting with it. We use Octopus for deployments and have several in house developed reporting tool. There are other technical teams withing Man that uses Clickhouse, Iceberg, Trino, Arctic DB, DuckDB, Mongo, Oracle, Postgres and streamlit for their data platforms with Python, Java and C#, React for their application building.
Man has invested heavily in building its AI capabilities and making it as a first class citizen. Every member of the technology team along with the wider business community uses AI at Man in some form or the other in their daily job. This is either through using the in-house ManGPT or via using various coding agents like Claude, Cline, co-pilot etc or by building newer bots to automate some of the repetitive tasks.
Key Competencies
Essential
- Strong delivery focused approach, ensuring business value is being met.
- Proponent of collaborative software engineering techniques and methods.
- Practical knowledge of programming languages such as python and C#.
- Strong SQL skills: Coding Stored Procedure, Functions, Scripts with SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and code reviews/continuous integration.
- Ability to understand and break down complex business requirements.
- Be able to present newer concepts precisely and share ideas with wider audience and senior stakeholders.
- Take feedback positively
- Work with passion & zeal to make an impact and see through to closure of planned tasks.
Advantageous
- Experience with Version control tools/CI/CD/Deployment tool like git/Octopus/Jenkins.
- Familiarity with the latest in the world of AI/Agentic AI, MCPs.
- Notions of Data Modelling. Exposure to BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI or SSRS or any other visualization tool.
- Any working knowledge of data wrangling with Kafka, Debezium, MS SSIS, Azure or Cloud services, ETL development, MS SSAS (DAX or MDX).
