Role Overview:

The purpose of this role is to define and execute best Social Media practise and strategy across all JD UK channels. This will include a data orientated approach combined with a creative mindset to optimise all organic and community content. You will cover a 12 month fixed term maternity contract working closely with the team to reach and engage consumers and grow our social media channels in-line with our new social media strategy. You will be able to deliver on pre-determined KPIs at pace in a low-ego, collaborative and highly engaging manner. An expert knowledge of all main social media channels, community management, organic growth and content creation, as well as the ability to address continually changing business and market conditions. You will be one of the go to points of contact within JD for all things social media related, working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders and departments to make sure all projects are seamlessly delivered, creating high quality, multi-platform campaigns which drive brand awareness, footfall, traffic and conversion. Key partner relations must be maintained with all major social media platforms to ensure continual innovation and improvement across all accounts.

Team Overview:

The marketing team are responsible for generating modern, fresh and culturally relevant omni channel marketing ideas. Bringing campaigns to life from conception to reality. Whether it be large scale global campaigns, the biggest celebrity collaborations or new store activations, the departments main priority is to create ideas through messaging, imagery and motion. We live and breathe our brand and commercial objectives by enticing, exciting and engaging our target consumer. Working amongst creatives who are responsible for the concepts behind iconic calendar events such as Christmas, Summer, Back to School and beyond.

We’re looking for creative minded, delivery and performance focused individuals to join our inhouse team. You’ll be working with a team of talented brand, campaign, social, and studio marketing experts. Working for JD across our brand portfolio including Nike, adidas, Puma, The North Face and Under Armour to name a few. This is an extremely exciting time to join our expanding inhouse marketing team.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the continued growth & development of all JD UK social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube
  • Develop strategies and campaign ideas that will improve content and channel performance
  • Set social media KPIs in line with wider marketing objectives and goals
  • Build close relationships with our client partners at social media platforms including Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube
  • Work closely with our JD UK Community Manager and social media team to drive community engagement, strengthen consumer connections and build loyalty through best-in-class community management
  • Working closely with our JD UK Social Media Analyst, take a data-led approach to social media, and oversee the use of social monitoring tools including Sprinklr to gain consumer insights, identify trends, target influencers and report success
  • Oversee the continued development and training of the JD UK social media team and the education of the wider business around all things social media related
  • Oversee social media reporting, sharing detailed reports with senior stakeholders across the business weekly, monthly and quarterly
  • Responsible for governance & management of the JD UK social media budget
  • Develop and implement a full paid social media strategy across JD channels (non-performance)
  • Develop integrated strategies that ensure social media is always at the heart of what JD do
  • Work closely with JD’s paid social team, taking a joined-up approach to campaign planning, whilst driving shared best practise across organic and paid social
  • Develop a close relationship with all major stakeholders and departments including Marketing, Influencer, Activations, Content, Data & Analytics, CRM, Merch and Buying teams
  • Continually keep the wider business updated on the progress of social media and present regular updates
  • Ensure that all social media content complies with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media marketing trends, technologies, and best practices, and share knowledge with the wider social media & marketing teams to ensure that JD remains at the forefront of social media innovation

Skills / Experience / Knowledge Needed:

  • Extensive social media experience – with a particular focus on leading organic growth (paid knowledge advantageous)
  • Track record of developing and executing social media strategy for a large organisation
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools to track and measure performance
  • Experience setting and tracking KPIs for social media campaigns, and reporting on performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing and developing a large social media team including managers, execs and assistants
  • Excellent organisational, communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, paid media, buying & merch, content, legal, and compliance
  • Knowledge of social media marketing regulations and best practices
  • Experience of managing large budgets
