The Role

The Junior Designer will be part of a team of seven designers. The main responsibility will be the hands-on production of visual marketing, communication and physical (at-event) assets for FT Live’s events. The Junior Designer will join our lively, enthusiastic and highly-skilled team which works together to ensure that FT Live is successful in maintaining and further developing a strong, sustainable events business across both digital and in-person events. 

You’ll be a strong candidate if you can demonstrate passion for animation and video editing packages - we use Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects with various exciting plug ins.



Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • The creation of designed event materials, using pre-agreed creative design routes and applying brand guidelines accurately. Materials will include:
    • Video for social media and physical stage set, at-event banners and signage, web banners, digital advertisements, websites, HTML emails, printed and electronic brochures and invitations press advertisements.
  • With mentorship from other team members, develop new appealing and eye catching creative routes for new events
  • Work with external third-party suppliers, for example printers and video editors
  • Work on several projects at the same time, and with guidance from other team members, ensure projects are accurately prioritised
  • Deliver high quality work on time, to deadlines
  • Accept, respond to and implement feedback from stakeholders on designs

 

Key Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate that they have the following:

  • A recognised design qualification
  • A portfolio of outstanding design work from education and/or commercial projects
  • A passion for video / motion graphics
  • A passion for typography
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud packages such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Ability to notice intricate details
  • A confident communication style, comfortable communicating ideas to peers
  • Ability to work in the Mac OSX operating system, in the Google Workspace, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and Figma (or similar prototyping/design tool)
  • A desire to develop new skills (technical, design and professional skills), and an ability to adjust to using new technologies and platforms rapidly

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

The following would be advantageous though training can be provided:

  • Some previous commercial design experience, though we are open to a recent graduate with a strong portfolio of education projects
  • Editing websites (with or without HTML / CSS / Javascript) - we use Bizzabo
  • Project management software - we use Asana
  • Canva - we don’t design much in it ourselves, but it’s a key package for FT Live. Because we use Canva to enable our marketing teams to self-serve for some simpler design assets
