The Role / Position Overview
Financial Times Live (FT Live) is the conferences and events division of the Financial Times newspaper and its group publications. Our mission is to bring our global executive audiences the very latest in knowledge and opinion, and connect them to one another.
Chaired by senior FT journalists, the 200-plus core events, partner events and digital webinars organised by FT Live every year gather pre-eminent public and private sector decision-makers, visionaries and strategists from the world’s most important economies and industries for agenda-setting debates that cover the key issues of our time.
From unique experiences such as the FTWeekend Festival to our senior-level business summits such as the award winning Global Boardroom, FT Live has become one of the FT Group’s most successful and fastest-growing divisions, and is at the forefront of the FT’s accelerated development as an essential, interactive information source across numerous platforms.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Event Manager to lead the operational delivery of our Partner Events portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work with premier clients on high-impact events ranging from intimate roundtables to full-day conferences, hybrid broadcasts, and customised experiences at major industry gatherings. You'll be responsible for ensuring seamless execution and outstanding client service, while collaborating across FT Live teams and mentoring junior colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end operational delivery for assigned partner events, ensuring high standards and client satisfaction.
- Lead logistics, timelines, communications, and onsite/digital execution.
- Maintain and forecast budgets, control costs, and be responsible for invoicing and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with internal editorial teams and external speakers to support onboarding and briefings.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, providing consultative insights and upholding FT standards.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with venues and suppliers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure smooth event delivery.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience delivering B2B events across in-person, digital, and hybrid formats.
- Prior experience in fast-paced environments with international event delivery.
- Skilled in managing collaborator relationships and client communications.
- Budget control and supplier negotiation expertise.
- Proficiency in virtual event tools and engagement platforms.
- Excellent organisational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
- Clear communicator, confident across all mediums.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
