Data Science Team Lead

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to take the role of Data Science Team Lead directly supporting our VP of Engineering and senior leadership team. Objectives of this role
- Build and cultivate a company-wide culture of understanding and exploring data, and making informed, data-driven decisions
- Prepare reports, perform deep-dive analyses & build dashboards that will boost company's data prowess and decision making
- Develop, implement, and maintain analytics systems, solving problems thru lens of complex datasets and building simple frameworks
- Together with our data and machine learning engineers, you will help shape and develop complex data processing pipelines in the cloud or on-premise
- Work directly with CTO, VP eng, senior managers to gather requirements, build data models and various analysis
- Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, and suggest improvements to handling, processing, and cleaning data
Responsibilities
- Take over the leadership role of a newly established Data Science team
- Analysis of contextual and behavioral signals that influence the performance of thousands of marketing campaigns
- Designing and developing new data processing and analysis pipelines to improve company’s core product
- Formulating statistical hypotheses that could improve ads targeting and researching big amounts of data to validate them
- Preparation of prototypes and production level data processing scripts using SQL, Python
- Work closely with project managers to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
- Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity
- Create and maintain visualizations through data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources
- Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic, selecting an appropriate combination of methods and tools within the defined technology stack to ensure optimal scalability and performance of the solution
- Develop and maintain datastores by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, and build scripts that will make our data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across datasets
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, economics, or statistics
- More than 3 years of proven practical experience in data mining / data analysis
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of multiple data analysts, overseeing their work and supporting their professional growth
- Experience in research & development - statistical hypothesis creation and fluently using statistical modeling techniques incl. simulations, clustering, forecasting, A/B live testing
- SQL, Python at an advanced level, experience with processing large data sets, creating complex queries, optimizing computational complexity
- Knowledge of Google BigQuery is definitely an advantage
- Experience creating meaningful data visualizations and reports
- Solid understanding of in fundamentals of statistics
- Practical experience with creating data models and data exploration
- Experience in dealing with data technologies from one of the major cloud providers
- Clear and effective communication, being goal-oriented, strong initiative, ability to understand a wider organization and its goals
