About the Role

Nscale is building and operating AI infrastructure across multiple jurisdictions.  This is a technical generalist role providing local compliance support in APAC, contributing to the global compliance program by aligning regional operations, particularly Chinese affiliate and banking-related activities, with international policies, regulatory expectations, and company-wide risk priorities. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on execution aligned to a global compliance playbook . There will be rotation into global compliance projects including policy refresh or tool implementation, key metrics tracking and enhancing workflow efficiency.

About You

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in compliance or legal roles.
  • Background: Legal background is preferred (admitted lawyer), though the team is open to candidates with strong operational compliance experience in fields like trade compliance or ESG.
  • Ability to operationalize policies through education, training, and monitoring rather than just providing academic advice.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard of execution
  • Commercial acumen and sound judgment in complex transactional environments
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual language skills strongly preferred to support the local APAC team

What You'll Be Doing

Third-Party Risk Operations:

  • Support day-to-day compliance processes: Know Your Counterparty- KYC, export control, sanctions screening, and third-party onboarding-aligned to Nscale compliance standards.

Internal Governance:

  • Implement regional standards for anti-bribery, gifts and hospitality, and Conflicts of Interest. Support HR with employment-related compliance complaints.

Training and enablement

  • Deliver and localise compliance training for APAC teams, ensuring understanding and completion of core policies and procedures.
  • Support the wider compliance programme, including annual training refresh cycles and targeted enablement for procurement, commercial, and operations teams.
  • Contribute to compliance communications and practical playbooks that make requirements easy to follow.

Risk Insights & Reporting:

  • Monitor upcoming regulatory changes within region impacting Nscale and identify trends from diligence and regional activities. Produce concise summaries to inform risk prioritisation and program improvements.

Investigations & Case Management:

  • Conduct intake, triage, and fact-finding for compliance matters. Maintain audit-ready records and escalate in line with defined thresholds.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with local leadership on new contracts and global teams on corporate affairs and communications.

About You

  • Background: Legal background is preferred (admitted lawyer), though the team is open to candidates with strong operational compliance experience in areas such as trade compliance, export controls, or supply chain compliance.
  • Ability to operationalize policies through education, training, and monitoring rather than just providing academic advice.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard of execution.
  • Commercial acumen and sound judgment in complex transactional environments.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual language skills strongly preferred to support the local APAC team.
  • Experience with GRC and due-diligence screening tools is desirable (e.g. LexisNexis Diligence, Dow Jones Risk Center, or equivalent screening solutions).
  • Experience contributing to or leading process transformation, system integrations, and workflow automation projects within a compliance or legal function is desirable e.g. GRC platform rollouts, KYC workflow design and implementation and compliance tooling integrations.
