The Role

The Data Analyst will work closely with clients on consulting engagements across organisations within media and other sectors to solve sophisticated business problems. 

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our FT Strategies team within the Financial Times. You will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic work environment as we scale our consulting business. You will be central to that growth, shaping how it succeeds and will be an early team member of a funded startup within an established institution - a very rare opportunity. 

FT Strategies has deep connections in place with our FT colleagues, often collaborating with and drawing expertise from our in-house Customer Analytics and Research team which is made up of data analysts, architects, engineers and scientists. 

Key Responsibilities

Actionable Analytics

  • Deliver impactful insights to advise strategic decisions

  • Lead the analytics components of client projects

  • Apply compelling storytelling through best-in-class data visualisation and statistical analysis

Technical Expertise

  • Collaborate with collaborators to collect, clean, and interpret data from diverse sources

  • Analyse large, sophisticated datasets to solve business challenges

  • Work with web, content, and subscription data to deliver actionable insights

  • Guide experimental design, including A/B testing and statistical validation

  • Act as a bridge between clients and FT data specialists as needed

Commercial Savvy

  • Understand and align with clients' strategic goals, using analytics to support and enhance their direction

  • Stay updated on FT developments and advise on how they impact client user experiences and behaviours

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • 3+ years in a data analysis role, preferably in web or customer analytics

  • Proficient in tools such as SQL, Python, R or Excel

  • Experience with A/B or multivariate testing and statistical analysis

  • Ability to interpret data across business functions and connect with clarity

  • Proven success in managing multiple projects and collaborator relationships

  • Creative problem solver with attention to detail and a proactive attitude

  • Demonstrated impact through data-led organisational change

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a numerate subject (e.g. Maths, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science)

  • Experience with analytics platforms like Google Analytics

  • Knowledge of subscription or media business models

  • Consulting experience (not required but a plus)
