
Head of Security (HOS) - Jumia (Full Time)

What you will be doing
Employee Safety and Security Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of property and emergency procedures.
- Conduct investigations of any internal shrinkage and report it to management.
- Act as front-line security to effectively monitor and protect assets and individuals.
- Oversee periodic patrols of the entire property and parking areas.
- Administer property and asset policies fairly and consistently.
- Implement action plans to monitor and control employee health and safety risk.
- Identify and implement processes and facilities in compliance with regulatory frameworks.
- Identify and make recommendations for minimizing physical hazards and unsafe work practices.
- Provide assistance, medical attention, or other personal care to workers as needed on a timely basis.
Loss Prevention Security Responsibilities
- Compliance to Loss Prevention guidelines and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement authorities.
Management Responsibilities
- Audit and analyses the needs and build strong processes that go along with group policy and process.
- Plan, design and implement an overall risk management process for the organization.
- Make sure partners and employees in different departments follow the guidelines.
- Use systems and help develop a roadmap that can help achieve targets.
Investigating Workplace Incidents
- Routine checks of facilities and working assets.
- Takes part in accident/incident investigation.
- Carry out analysis of accident/incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
- Ensure that workplace tools and equipment are up to industry standards, meet regulatory requirements and are installed appropriately to reduce risk elements.
- Conduct HSE risk assessment audits.
Coordinating Training Programs
- Execution of quarterly knowledge awareness and refresher courses on environment, employee health, and safety.
- Administration of fire drills, other emergency drills and awareness tips.
- Development and engagement of fire and safety marshals.
Reporting
- Generation of HSE reports based on workplace inspection results.
- Detection of weakness in the safety management program.
- Creation and documentation of the incident report and recommendations.
What we are looking for
- Master's degree (Criminal Justice, Security Management, Operations, Legal).
- Minimum of 4 years in Health, Safety & Environment and Fire Services in warehouse management.
- Experience in security/loss prevention management, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation, and HSE Auditing Techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of performance metrics.
- Experienced in monitoring and situation evaluation.
- English & French proficiency (mandatory) - proficiency in Wolof is considered a significant advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Email, ...
- Proficient in Google Office Suite – Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail, Power BI, ...
- A diploma or certification in security management services will be a "plus".
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and precision.
- Excellent communication and leadership, organizational and time-management skills.
- Problem-solving skills and analytical skills.
- Know how to manage priorities and work with short-term goals.
- Ability to make quick and smart decisions under pressure.
