
Chief Commercial Officer - Uganda - Jumia (Full Time)

The CCO will be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities and managing marketing efforts by keeping abreast of trends and market conditions to provide strategic advice to upper management. In addition, we require someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and great leadership skills. The ideal candidate will also be a creative strategist with excellent organizational abilities. The goal is to promote and expand the company’s commercial activity that will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth. It is a leadership role that sits on the Uganda E-commerce Executive Committee.
What you will be doing
- Setting the Commercial strategy of the department (sales targets, target categories/segments to unlock, target key suppliers, target number of suppliers to onboard, ...).
- Meeting key vendors and suppliers to negotiate partnerships, contracts and service level agreements.
- Successfully executing our large commercial events.
- Managing a large team, covering Vendor Success, Heads of Category, and the Commercial Planning team and shared reporting of the Category Management Team.
- Recruiting adequate profiles to join the team.
What we are looking for
- Experience over 4 years in FMCG, tier 1 retail groups, top banking & consulting companies.
- Familiar with relationship management tools.
- Ensuring regular and quality reporting of team actions and results.
- Strong experience (>8 years) in commercial, sales, supply chain management, deep culture & knowledge of best practices in e-commerce, ideally specifically in developing countries.
- Strong interpersonal skills: convince the people and your team that you are making the right decisions.
- Ability to manage efficiently multiple teams.
- Hands-on and results-oriented - excited by solving problems yourself!
- Strong analytically (good with numbers & analysis - we have a lot of them!)
- Excellent communication skills in English.
