Our teams are putting the world’s retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT. We provide services to partner clients globally via our innovative advanced robotics technology, known as the Ocado Smart Platform ("OSP"), this drives our highly automated, multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs).

Ocado Solutions is responsible for our corporate international  partnerships, offering the proprietary Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) as a service to retailers around the world.  OSP comprises access to Ocado’s physical automation, allowing highly efficient preparation of orders, together with the full end-to-end software applications required to operate a world class online grocery business, bringing the best possible operational economics, consumer experience and service to our partners.

About the role

As an International Commercial Project Manager within Solutions you will be responsible for one of the most important targets in the company; signing new international partnerships, across the three regions: Europe, Americas, and APAC/MEA.  This includes inspiring potential partners on all levels, including C-level executives worldwide, while managing the full sales process from research and initial contact to detailed joint work, building detailed P&Ls, negotiating complex financial terms/agreements and ultimately contract signing.

In this role you will demonstrate ownership and autonomy to manage prospects, coordinating the various work streams overall (Tech, Logistics, Network Planning, Legal, etc.) and being the main day-to-day project lead on the commercial work stream, building up business modelling and driving strategic commercial decisions. This is an exciting opportunity which plays a pivotal part in guiding the strategic growth of the company and ensuring we continue to pioneer the online grocery retail market.

Please Note: We offer a hybrid work environment, requiring at least two days in the office each week. This position is located at our Head Office in Trident Place, Hatfield.

In this role you will

  • Business development with multiple international prospects (between one and four in parallel at varying levels of maturity) 
  • Building detailed online P&Ls from the bottom up, explaining and negotiating complex fees to demonstrate long-term P&L improvement
  • Building excellent relationships with prospects and internal stakeholders to ensure client needs are met in a professional and timely manner
  • Leading day-to-day business development activities including presentations, business case advice, commercial workshops and prospect visits
  • Acting as main point of contact with prospective clients, co-ordinating project plans and regular check-points internally and externally
  • Supporting commercial and technical negotiation of complex contracts; contribute to successful deal conclusion
  • Facilitating successful post-sales activities and ensure a smooth transition to the implementation team

About you

  • Experience of working in a complex commercial environment would be advantageous
  • Excellent data analysis, deep understanding of financial statements/P&Ls and high proficiency within Excel
  • Strong demonstration of commercial acumen, relationship building and influencing through oral and written communication skills (fluent in written and spoken English)
  • Previous  experience of business development
  • Proven experience in E-commerce / Operations / Technology projects or industry roles
  • Strong Consulting experience 
  • Internationally minded with previous experience of working in a global company.
  • Degree qualified or relevant demonstrable experience
  • Retail/FMCG/E-commerce experience highly desirable
