Financial Advisor IQ Reporter
Financial Advisor IQ, the leading publication covering the business of wealth management, is looking for a journalist who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom.
The reporter will be responsible for covering the wirehouse beat and practice management trends within these firms. This includes coverage of some of the largest players in the wealth management space — Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, UBS and Wells Fargo — as well as feature stories on topics relevant to how advisors build and grow their business.
You will write about how advisors at these companies find new clients, keep the ones they have, and think about topics like marketing, hiring, succession and investment portfolio construction. You’ll also write about the targets set by the companies they work for, initiatives at those companies and how they set pay and fees.
You will join a team of highly motivated and skilled journalists. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly establish themselves as a leader in the newsroom. We want an energetic reporter who will throw themselves at the financial advisor space and develop the inside sources and know-how to produce exclusive, must-read stories. We seek team players who thrive in a work environment that offers collegiality, while working to beat competitors.
FA-IQ is an FT Specialist publication, focused on informing and educating advisors with daily news and features focusing on the wealth management business, practice management and other content relevant to their day-to-day jobs and longer term careers.
Duties
The job requires a reporter who can work on a daily deadline and write and report three or more in-depth articles a week. You will be expected to quickly learn as much as you can about wirehouses and the broader financial advisor industry. We want someone who has a nose for news, can develop a network of sources and manage a pipeline of enterprise stories. You will be expected to interview top industry executives and financial advisors to generate exclusive stories that financial advisors can’t find elsewhere and feel they can’t do without.
The role could be at the reporter or senior reporter level, depending on domain expertise, experience and qualifications.
You will contribute to all sections and formats of Financial Advisor IQ editorial including video interviews and features, occasional moderating of live or virtual events, occasional travel to industry events and whatever else comes up.
Every reporter and editor at Financial Advisor IQ is held to fundamental standards of integrity, honesty and journalistic ethics.
