Why this role exists:
This role exists to make design a competitive advantage — not a service desk. You’ll lead the design organization to deliver consistent, high-quality product experiences, improve how we validate UX decisions, and make design a strategic partner in product direction.
What you’ll work on:
You’ll lead Product Design across web and mobile surfaces, build strong team practices for a remote setup, and drive UX maturity: better discovery, better collaboration, better outcomes.
What you’ll drive:
Design leadership & operating system
- Set up collaboration rituals and processes that make the team faster, sharper, and aligned.
- Partner with Product/Engineering leadership to improve cross-functional ways of working across product areas.
UX prioritization & validation
- Ensure UX is validated — push for research, testing, and evidence-based decisions where it matters most.
- Identify opportunities for better discovery and tighter product-design collaboration.
Quality & strategic impact
- Review design deliverables (research + solutions), coach quality, and raise the bar on consistency.
- Spot cross-product UX opportunities (not just “this feature” — but “this experience”) and drive them forward.
Performance & goals
- Define and own Design KPIs (design quality, user satisfaction, adoption signals) and OKRs.
- Build “Next Steps” planning: design sprints, research plans, design system priorities.
Product direction
Contribute to product vision discussions and help shape long-term product direction with design thinking + evidence.
What makes you a GR8 fit:
Must-have
- 7+ years in product design (web + mobile), with 3+ years leading design teams.
- Experience leading designers on complex products (not just marketing pages).
- Strong leadership philosophy for remote teams: autonomy, accountability, craft, growth.
- Excellent visual and UX fundamentals (typography, layout, composition, interaction patterns).
- Research-to-design capability: you can define the “why” and build the “how”.
- Strong stakeholder management: you can sell design decisions through storytelling, data, and clarity.
Nice-to-have
- Experience building/maintaining design systems at scale.
- Experience in regulated, high-load, data-heavy domains.
