The Role
We are looking for a driven sales professional to manage finance clients. Reporting to the Group Head (Banking and Finance), the successful candidate will build strong, cross-functional relationships across the FT — collaborating with editorial, marketing, advertising operations, and campaign teams to develop outcome-based, insight-led commercial proposals that align with client critical metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of finance clients’ relationships, using strategic sales approaches to drive 10% YoY revenue growth.
- Apply creative thinking to develop custom, insight-led proposals that deliver on client critical metrics, using both content and display advertising solutions.
- Trade confidently within FT’s trading framework and collaborate with the trading and yield teams to build customised trading strategies.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with planning and buying teams at agencies and establish direct relationships with multiple client-side partners per account.
- Demonstrate persuasive communication skills in face-to-face and virtual meetings with senior client and partners.
- Track and manage opportunities, contacts and client conversations using Salesforce and Slack daily, ensuring data accuracy and visibility across teams.
- Use internal data tools such as Looker and partner closely with CSI to generate research and insights that strengthen client proposals and demonstrate FT’s value.
- Coordinate cross-functional input from editorial, marketing, operations, and content teams to shape and deliver high-impact proposals.
- Deliver at least one proactive content solution per quarter aligned with finance industry trends and FT editorial direction.
- Represent the FT in 4-6 client meetings per week, championing our brand and deepening commercial partnerships.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven track record in digital media sales with experience in trading and negotiation.
- Strong client-facing skills with confidence speaking to senior partners.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to different audiences.
- Proficiency with Salesforce and ability to manage pipeline effectively.
- Data and insight fluency using tools like Looker and internal CSI support.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across departments.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of the finance advertising landscape.
- Experience developing content-led solutions in addition to display media.
- Understanding of FT’s competitive set and how to position FT’s USPs effectively.
- Familiarity with internal FT teams including campaign management and print production.
The application closing date is 24th October 2025, 5pm BST
