The role / Position overview
FundFire, a Financial Times publication, is seeking an experienced and motivated Reporter to cover institutional investing, asset management, and the evolving landscape of financial services. This role involves breaking news, writing in-depth analyses, and developing a strong network of sources across the industry. The reporter will collaborate closely with editors and colleagues to deliver insightful, high-impact journalism that serves FundFire’s readership of industry professionals. Key responsibilities
- Report and write daily news stories and about three-weekly longer analytical pieces on institutional investing and asset management.
- Develop a network of industry sources to uncover exclusive stories and provide in-depth coverage.
- Monitor trends, regulatory developments, and major shifts in asset management, private equity, hedge funds, and wealth management.
- Collaborate with editors and colleagues to ensure accuracy, clarity, and impact in reporting.
- Represent FundFire at industry events, conferences, and interviews to improve reporting and build relationships.
- Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and impartiality.
Required skills / experience
- Proven experience in financial journalism, business reporting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of institutional investing, asset management, and financial markets.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging articles under tight deadlines.
- Excellent research skills and the ability to analyze sophisticated financial topics.
- Strong communication and networking skills to build and maintain industry contacts.
- Experience using data and analytics to improve reporting is a plus.

Further information
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $75,000-$85,000. To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set, experience and training, certifications, and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
