Education Partnerships Manager

London - Commercial

Who we are

We are an organisation that exists to drive progress. That's the “red thread” that connects everyone at The Economist Group (TEG). Our businesses share a devotion to innovation, independence and rigour in their fields of expertise. We empower people to understand and tackle the critical challenges and changes facing the world. Our analytical rigour, global expertise and evidence-based insights enable individuals and organisations to make sense of these shifts and chart a course through them.

We deliver analysis and insights in many formats to subscribers and clients in 170 countries through our four businesses, The Economist, Economist Impact, Economist Intelligence and Economist Education, which uphold our global reputation for excellence and integrity.

Economist Education helps organisations build the judgement and communication skills leaders need now: critical thinking, clear writing, data storytelling, and understanding the forces reshaping business and geopolitics. We work with employers, institutions and partners to deliver premium learning experiences.

Economist Education is looking for a Partnerships Manager to build distribution partnerships that drive revenue growth and broaden our reach. This is a commercial role for a strategic, highly driven operator who is comfortable shaping and negotiating complex partnership structures, and who can collaborate across internal teams to take partnerships from concept through to launch and performance.

As Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, structuring and managing revenue-generating partnerships that expand access to Economist Education’s courses and programmes. These partnerships may include professional bodies, business schools, corporate learning platforms and other distribution partners. You will shape partnership propositions, drive negotiations, lead onboarding and activation, and manage performance over time.

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and execute partnerships that deliver revenue growth while protecting the premium positioning of The Economist and Economist Education.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of partnership opportunities, from early-stage discovery to signed agreements and live launches
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners (e.g., professional bodies, business schools, corporate learning platforms, learning aggregators and other intermediaries) and drive outreach and engagement
  • Shape partnership proposals and commercial models (e.g., minimum guarantees, revenue share, bulk licensing, co-branded programmes, platform delivery structures)
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, working closely with legal, finance and other stakeholders
  • Lead partner onboarding and activation, including launch planning, marketing coordination and operational readiness
  • Manage partnership relationships and performance, tracking activity and revenue, analysing data, and recommending improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, finance, operations and legal to deliver successful partnerships
  • Ensure partnership agreements are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, aligned with The Economist Group’s editorial guidelines, and operationally viable.

The desirable skills for this role include:

  • Proven track record of building and maintaining successful commercial partnerships, ideally in education, professional services, media, membership, platforms or adjacent sectors
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including confidence with senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills; comfortable working with complex partnership structures and multi-stakeholder decision processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to model partnership economics and evaluate trade-offs
  • Solid spreadsheet skills and ability to build and interrogate financial models for partnership proposals
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to take partnerships from agreement to launch and ongoing performance
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and moving parts
  • Strong sense of ownership; resourceful, collaborative and able to make progress through ambiguity
  • Attention to detail and high standards of execution
  • Degree in business, marketing or a related field (or equivalent experience)
