Position Description

Permanent Full-Time

Location:  Hanoi

The Data Governance Team is directly responsible for improving the data maturity of the organisation through the delivery of Data Governance and Data Quality services at an enterprise level. The value that data can create for RightShip and our customers can only be achieved through a strong data foundation and mature organisational capabilities in managing, processing and utilising this data. 

Reporting to the Data Governance Lead, the Data Governance Advisor will play a significant role in supporting RightShip in leveraging data as an asset to ensure data can be used to inform key decisions and deliver valuable outcomes to customers and the wider ecosystem in general.

You will drive the adoption and success of data governance across the organization by advocating for its importance, implementing frameworks, policies, and procedures, and engaging with stakeholders to monitor and track key governance KPIs.

 

Major Responsibilities 

DATA GOVERNANCE

  • Provide subject matter expertise in data management and governance
  • Own the implementation of data governance tool and support the creation and maintenance of a centralized data catalog to improve data discovery, accessibility, and understanding across the organization.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards that align with the organization’s goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with business units and data stewards to establish data quality metrics and continually assess data for accuracy, consistency, and
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality problems
  • Act as a liaison between business units and tech/date teams to ensure alignment of data governance efforts with organizational goals and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with data stewards to ensure they are effectively managing the data within their domains. This includes helping them understand their roles and providing the necessary tools and processes to succeed.
  • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, tools, and practices that can enhance data governance, data quality, and overall data maturity within the organization.
  • Work closely with legal, compliance, and privacy teams to ensure that data governance practices align with ethical data use and privacy laws, protecting customer data and building trust.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify potential risks related to data governance, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are implemented and that data governance aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Lineage Tracking: Ensure end-to-end tracking of data lineage to guarantee traceability of data assets, from origin to consumption, providing transparency and trust in data processes.

  • Build trust and positive culture within RightShip
  • Promote the importance of data governance throughout the organization, ensuring that data management principles are understood and followed.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate employees on data governance policies, roles, and their responsibilities regarding data.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive workplace, which engages its employees

QUALITY AND STANDARDS

  • Ensure office compliance with ISO 9001 and 27001 standards and policies
  • Support the implementation of global processes and instructions
  • Ensure that all procedures and instructions are followed to mitigate any potential risk to RightShip arising from political (e.g. sanctions) or regulatory/ legal compliance requirements on an ongoing basis

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in the data management and data governance domains (3+ years)
  • Solid understanding of data governance practices and principles, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Proficient in data extraction, manipulation and presentation (SQL and MS Office Suite)
  • You understand, advocate and can clearly articulate for the importance of data governance for a business
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven ability to engage with and influence a diverse group of stakeholders.
