Reporting to the Senior Product Owner, the Business Analyst is part of the Data team and will be responsible to confidently bridge business needs with technical delivery. You will play a key role in shaping data models, integration and customer insights capabilities that directly influence engagement, and effectiveness.
The Data Business Analyst will play a key role in defining features and delivering several data products and initiatives. You will ensure that data-driven insights and capabilities, such as segmentation, modeling and analytics are effectively supported by a robust data model and foundation.
This role offers challenges across a wide variety of products and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the products built by the business. It is ideal for a Business Analyst who thrives in ambiguity, brings strong technical acumen, and is passionate and hands on.
Major Responsibilities
BUSINESS ANALYSIS & AGILE DELIVERY
- Lead workshops with cross-functional stakeholders to define and document business and functional requirements.
- Translate business goals into clear data and integration requirements.
- Define the logical data model.
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with the development team and subject matter experts to ensure business and systems requirements are understood and effectively transitioned into robust technical prototypes
- Collaborate with stakeholders and work with the team to deliver initiatives using Agile principles
- Propose solutions to problems and consider timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning and Discovery meetings
- Effectively manage and prioritise own workload, providing regular status updates as required.
QUALITY VALIDATION & USER ENABLEMENT
- Support testing and validation across data pipelines, models and transformations.
- Assist with the co-ordination of Product UAT testing
- Demonstrate and educate customers on how to use data products in an effective manner as needed
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate between business, data and technical teams.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst on data-centric or analytics projects.
- Analytical thinking with ability to ask the right questions to understand user problems and develop solutions
- Ability to plan and schedule development backlog into sprints in an Agile environment
- Analytical and process-based skills, i.e. process flow diagrams, business & process modelling, data analysis
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence and similar.
- Solid understanding of data models, pipelines, and SQL.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
Nice to have:
- Working knowledge of Databricks.
- Experience in maritime or environmental sectors.
