About the Role
The Director, People Partnering – US Data Centre Operations will lead the development and execution of the people strategy supporting Nscale’s US Data Centre Operations.
This role partners directly with the Deputy President, Data Centres (US) and their leadership team to enable the build, scaling, and operational excellence of Nscale’s data centre footprint across the United States.
You will act as a strategic advisor and operational partner, ensuring workforce capability, organisational design, leadership effectiveness, compliance, and employee engagement are aligned to the critical operational demands of a 24/7 infrastructure environment.
Reporting to the Global Director, Head of People Partnering, this role plays a key leadership position within the global People function while deeply embedding within US operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic Leadership Partnering
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Deputy President, Data Centres (US) and their senior leadership team.
- Shape and deliver a people strategy aligned to data centre expansion, operational resilience, safety, and performance targets.
- Coach leaders to build accountable, high-performing operational teams across multiple US sites.
- Partner on workforce planning to support new site launches, capacity expansion, and evolving operational models.
- Act as the People lead for US Data Centre Operations within the global People Partnering leadership team.
Workforce Planning & Organisational Design
- Lead organisational design initiatives to ensure scalable structures across site operations, engineering, facilities, logistics, and support functions.
- Drive headcount planning aligned to infrastructure growth, commissioning timelines, and 24/7 operational coverage models.
- Support site-based leadership in optimising shift structures, workforce efficiency, and role clarity.
- Develop succession planning and critical role coverage strategies for operational continuity.
Performance & Leadership Development
- Implement performance enablement frameworks suited to operational and site-based environments.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen frontline leadership capability, including site directors, operations managers, and facilities leaders.
- Provide executive coaching to senior operational leaders to enhance leadership effectiveness and decision-making.
- Equip managers with practical tools to drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters across US jurisdictions.
- Ensure full compliance with US federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly in multi-site environments.
- Partner closely with Legal and site leadership on investigations, performance issues, and sensitive workforce matters.
- Proactively mitigate risk in areas such as wage and hour compliance, shift patterns, and site-level employment practices.
Change Management & Operational Transformation
- Lead change management efforts related to site launches, expansions, operational restructuring, or automation initiatives.
- Develop communication strategies that ensure clarity and engagement across dispersed operational teams.
- Support leaders in balancing operational demands with employee wellbeing and retention.
Talent Strategy & Capability Building
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to build strong pipelines for critical operational roles
- Identify skill gaps and implement targeted development initiatives to strengthen operational capability.
- Support internal mobility and career pathing within site-based and technical operational roles.
- Strengthen retention strategies in competitive labour markets.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Design and implement programs that foster engagement, safety, and a high-performance culture across US sites.
- Champion a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and safety-first leadership.
- Act as an advocate for employees while maintaining alignment with business priorities.
People Analytics & Reporting
- Leverage workforce analytics to monitor attrition, absenteeism, performance trends, and workforce productivity.
- Establish operational KPIs to measure the effectiveness of people initiatives across sites.
- Provide data-driven insights to the Deputy President and leadership team to inform workforce decisions.
Compensation & Rewards
- Partner with Global Total Rewards to ensure competitive and equitable compensation aligned to US operational labour markets.
- Guide leaders on reward strategies that reinforce performance, safety, and operational excellence.
- Monitor market trends across key data centre geographies to maintain competitive positioning.
About You
- Extensive HR leadership experience within data centre, infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or other 24/7 operational environments.
- Proven experience partnering with senior operational executives in a multi-site US environment.
- Strong expertise in workforce planning, organisational design, employee relations, and leadership development.
- Deep understanding of US employment law, wage and hour regulations, and multi-state compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting frontline and site-based workforces.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to align people strategy to operational performance metrics.
- Strong analytical capability with experience using workforce data to inform decision-making.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
Preferred
- Experience in hyperscale data centres, critical infrastructure, cloud operations, or AI infrastructure environments.
- Experience supporting rapid US expansion and site launches.
- Membership of a recognised HR professional body.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
