About the role

Core Operations at TeamApt Limited is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented  Reconciliation Officer to join our dynamic team. At TeamApt, we are dedicated to digitizing financial services for Africa’s underserved and underbanked communities, driving financial inclusion through innovative solutions.

The Reconciliation Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions by reconciling settlements, payment flows, and transactional records across various platforms. This role will focus on Settlement, Reporting, Dispute Resolution, Fraud Operations, and Reconciliation, ensuring seamless financial operations and identifying discrepancies to mitigate financial risks.

What you’ll get to do

1. Transaction & Financial Reconciliation:

  • Perform daily reconciliation of financial transactions across multiple payment channels, including banks, payment processors, and internal systems.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies between transactions, settlements, and financial reports.
  • Work closely with the finance, operations, and technology teams to address outstanding reconciliation issues.

2. Settlement Verification:

  • Ensure accurate and timely settlement of transactions with banks, merchants, and financial partners.
  • Cross-check settlement reports to validate payment accuracy and fund movement.
  • Flag and escalate any settlement delays or mismatches for quick resolution.

3. Dispute Management:

  • Support the resolution of disputed transactions by reconciling customer claims with financial records.
  • Work with customer service and banking partners to investigate and resolve chargeback cases.
  • Maintain records of disputes and resolutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

4. Fraud Operations Support:

  • Monitor transaction patterns to identify potential fraudulent activities.
  • Assist in investigating fraudulent transactions by reviewing financial data and reconciliation reports.
  • Provide insights to the fraud prevention team to enhance fraud detection mechanisms.

5. Reporting & Compliance:

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports, highlighting key trends, outstanding issues, and resolutions.
  • Ensure all reconciliation processes comply with financial regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all reconciliations, disputes, and adjustments for audit purposes.

6. Process Improvement & Efficiency:

  • Continuously assess reconciliation workflows and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Leverage automation tools and reconciliation software to streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance reconciliation procedures and reduce error rates.

To succeed in this role, we think you should have

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reconciliation, banking operations, or accounting, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, reconciliation tools, and financial management software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in fintech, digital payments, or banking reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards related to payment processing and settlements.
  • Familiarity with fraud detection techniques and dispute resolution processes.
  • Experience with reconciliation automation tools
