(Senior) Full Stack Engineer (m/f/d)

Hamburg, Germany

Join us as a (Senior) Fullstack Engineer (m/f/d) in our Backoffice Platform team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!

We are the Backoffice Platform Team, a cross-functional team of five engineers, a product manager, a designer, and an agilist. Together we build the foundation for the web application that powers MOIA ‘s autonomous mobility operations and B2B services.

Our platform enables teams across MOIA to build products & features in the Backoffice with minimal friction. We provide the essential building blocks: Federated GraphQL APIs, user management, UI component library, authentication and authorisation, and build and deployment automation. We run our own serverless AWS infrastructure, embracing "you build it, you run it" principles to ensure reliability, scalability and continuous improvement.

What you will do

  • Improve our federated GraphQL API – balancing developer experience with platform-level enforcement
  • Build and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript on serverless AWS
  • Work on frontend platform features in our React/TypeScript monorepo when needed
  • Drive platform improvements autonomously – identify problems, propose solutions, and own them end-to-end
  • Collaborate with teams across MOIA to understand their needs and make the platform better
  • Take responsibility for running your systems ("you build it, you run it")

What will help you to fulfill your role

  • Strong backend engineering experience, comfortable building APIs and distributed systems
  • Experience with serverless AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Experience with Node.js/TypeScript
  • Experience with GraphQL – you understand federation, schema design, and resolver patterns
  • Track record of building and scaling GraphQL APIs in production
  • Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) and ability to identify and mitigate risks in APIs and applications
  • Ownership mindset - you can identify problems, drive solutions autonomously, and see them through
  • Good communication skills and comfort working in a highly autonomous, cross-functional team
  • Fluent in English

Nice-to-haves

  • Frontend skills in React/TypeScript - you don't need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable working in the frontend when needed
  • Expertise in Apollo Federation
  • Experience with AWS Cognito or similar identity management systems
  • Understanding of platform thinking - building systems that enable other engineers
  • Experience with DevOps practices: CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring & observability

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — even if you don’t meet every requirement. If you’re excited about the role and MOIA’s mission, we’d love to hear from you!
