Radar Component Owner (all genders) - BTV

Join us as an Radar Component Owner (all genders) - BTV in our Autonomous Driving team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!

The Hardware Development Team is responsible for the end-to-end development of all key hardware components of the Self-Driving System (SDS), including cameras, radars, lidars, and high-performance compute platforms. We collaborate closely with national and international partners, Tier-1 suppliers, and diverse stakeholders across the Volkswagen Group to deliver robust, future-ready hardware solutions for autonomous driving.  

In this role, you serve as the OEM-side Radar Component Owner (Bauteilverantwortlicher – BTV) with full responsibility for the SDS radar sensors across all development phases. 

What you will do

Technical Expertise 

  • Background in radar sensor technology including RF, interfaces, calibration and validation
  • Profound experience of component responsibility (BTV) activities such as requirement engineering, testing, project management and release procedures within the automotive branch with automotive standards
  • Strong knowledge of OEM development processes such as PEP, ASPICE and corporate release procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of corporate tools for requirements, change and quality management
  • Understanding of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and SOTIF 

Responsibilities – Component Ownership 

  • Full accountability for the radar technical maturity, compliance and project delivery status from concept to SOP
  • Acting as the primary cross-sectional interface between development, quality, safety, security, integration, procurement, functional teams and production
  • Oversee the radar sensor throughout the entire product development process, ensuring alignment with all VW/MOIA milestone requirements, including the derivation, tracking, and timely delivery of supplier work products (e.g., requirements documents, design data, safety artifacts, verification reports) for each relevant release gate
  • Lead technical reviews and steer international Tier-1 suppliers 

Testing & Validation (Supplier Management) 

  • Lead planning and tracking of all validation activities for hardware and software including radar test benches for KPI tests, simulations and vehicle integration tests
  • Define and maintain of all DV/PV requirements and reporting requirements
  • Ensure traceability and coverage to all safety, performance, and homologation requirements 

Documentation & Processes 

  • Create and refine specifications, requirements documents, verification plans and maintain component approval processes using corporate tools
  • Ensure supplier documentation completeness and audit readiness
  • Contribute to design reviews, safety analysis, FMEAs, and milestone reviews

  • A university degree in electronics, engineering or similar and professional experience in the automotive industry
  • Strong communication skills in German and English
  • High degree of ownership and proactive working style
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • A structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach
  • Confident stakeholder communication with internal teams and international suppliers
