Compliance Accounting Manager

London; Warsaw

Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services everyday and local businesses thrive. To date we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.

Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with relentless pursuit of results. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. The impact here can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of our transformation. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact.

We're currently seeking a Compliance Accounting Manager to join our international accounting team on a fixed-term basis (6-9 months).

This is a hands-on accounting role with exposure across EMEA and a key part of ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements. You'll coordinate audits, manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and oversee the preparation of financial statements. It’s a high-impact role that requires autonomy, precision, and ownership.

💻 What You’ll Do

  • Review statutory trial balances and financial statements, including GAAP-to-GAAP adjustments (US GAAP to IFRS/local GAAP)

  • Coordinate and support external statutory audits across multiple EMEA entities

  • Liaise with tax, treasury, legal, and other internal teams to ensure full compliance

  • Oversee and support a Senior Accountant, while also assisting the Senior Manager in coaching and developing junior compliance team members.

  • Collaborate with external service providers and auditors

  • Continuously improve accounting processes and support automation

  • Assist with cross-functional projects and ad-hoc accounting initiatives

🙌 We’d love to hear from you if you have

  • A degree in Accounting, with a CPA or equivalent qualification

  • At least 6 years of accounting experience, including exposure to compliance and statutory reporting

  • Solid knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP and local GAAP is a plus

  • Confidence working with accounting systems – experience with NetSuite, Anaplan, Alteryx, or Tableau is a bonus

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong overall proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present clearly to senior stakeholders

  • Full professional proficiency in English; other European languages are an advantage

  • A proactive mindset, with strong ownership, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

  • Bonus: Experience with financial reporting in a global, publicly listed company

💚 Why Join Groupon?

  • Work with a fun, diverse, and international team
  • Be part of a company where innovation is encouraged and impact is real
  • Enjoy a flexible, hybrid work model (2 days in our office)
  • Grow your career through ongoing learning, mentorship, and collaboration
  • Make financial reporting smoother for global teams and make life easier for our teams across EMEA.

📍 Location & Contract
