What will you do as Finance & Business Control Lead?
Big Ass Battery is growing — and finance is the backbone that keeps it all steady. As our new Finance & Business Control Lead, you’ll not only safeguard our financial operations, but help shape them and like any proper scale-up, it’s one hell of a ride. You’ll drive clarity in a sea of complexity, partner across departments, lead a small (but mighty) team, and play a key role in strategic decision-making alongside our CFO. Who holds it all together. Finance, baby! 

That’s why we’re looking for someone who can see through the financial jungle, tame it, and carve out a clear path. Someone who understands the numbers — and knows how to use them to make our company better day by day. And that’s where you come in. As our new Finance & Business Control Lead, you’ll be the numbers wizard behind our growth. You’ll move seamlessly between operations and strategy, Excel and Exact, invoices and forecasts. You’ll lead and collaborate closely with our Financial Controller Wesley (aka our rock), guiding him and any future hires as the team scales under your leadership.

You’ll be in close contact with our CFO. The future we see is one where you will expand and lead the finance team (operationally and tactically) according to your vision. A chance to have an impact? Big time. What else you say? You'll:

• monitor, optimize, and streamline our financial processes to make us ready for the annual mandatory audit requirement. Spot chaos? You’ll turn it into clarity
• collect input (and insights) from various departments and help build budgets and rock-solid forecasts
• act as a trusted sparring partner to the CFO — proactively supporting strategic decisions with solid analysis, reporting, and business insights — creating clear reports for our MT and shareholders, our work in progress (WIP) adds complexity to the mix
• support financing applications, manage our insurance portfolio, and brainstorm smarter financial solutions
• lead and develop our growing finance team — setting priorities, creating clarity, and building the right processes and rituals as we scale
• own external financial relationships — including banks, insurers, auditors, and advisors — ensuring they experience Big Ass Battery’s professionalism and ambition firsthand

What do we expect you to bring to Big Ass Battery?
We’re looking for a sharp-minded, hands-on person who is comfortable with ambiguity and knows how to turn messy spreadsheets and shifting priorities into clear insights and solid decisions. You’re not just a number cruncher — you’re a business partner who speaks fluent Excel and Exact and human, loves solving problems on the fly, and doesn’t flinch when things are undefined. You know how to zoom out, prioritize, and set direction — but also when to roll up your sleeves and coach your (soon expanding) team. You lead by example, delegate with clarity, and keep momentum high. 

Being a "manager" doesn’t mean being everyone’s best friend. You communicate clearly and directly, you keep people accountable, and you get sh*t done — while still being approachable, human, and kind. With your proactive mindset, strong analytical chops, and knack for collaboration, you’ll help steer the financial side of our fast-growing scale-up while freeing up the CFO to focus on strategic moonshots. If you bring a good sense of humor and some positive energy to the table. Even better — we like our numbers serious, but our people fun. Next to that you bring:

• at least a Bachelor degree in Finance & Control or a related field. (Bonus points if you’ve mastered a little bit of sarcasm too)
• a proven track record as Financial Controller — ideally in a production company or scale-up — when you had a taste of some Business Controlling....excellent
• you’re analytically sharp, pragmatic in your approach, and hands-on in your mindset
• personal development matters to you — you’re not afraid to dive into the deep end and learn as you go
• you’re fluent in both Dutch and English
• you make Excel macros purr, flirt shamelessly with MS Office, bend Exact Online to your will, and swipe through Speedbooks and Zenvoice like TGIF!
• and most importantly: you bring humor, energy, and good vibes. (Brabant roots? We love it!)

What do we have to offer you?

In our new salary system this position is a Guru-role with the following primary and secondary conditions:

• A salary that reflects the experience we are looking for, which has to fit in the range €6.250 - €7.000 gross per month (based on 38 hours per week)
• And of course, you receive 8% holiday allowance in May and a 13th month in December
• Want to work 32, 36 or 40 hours a week — your pick
• All the tools you need to excel at your job being a phone reimbursement of €25 net and a Apple Macbook Pro to show off your financial skills!
• We follow the collective labor agreement Technisch Installatiebedrijf which includes the PMT pension scheme
• Enough time to recharge your personal battery with 25 vacation days and 13 additional days off (based on a 40-hour workweek)
• Reimbursement of travel expenses at €0,23 per kilometer
