What will you do as Captain R&D Testing?
Our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are smart, scalable, and seriously powerful — but they don’t just magically work. That’s where you come in! As Captain R&D Testing, you’ll be the guardian of quality, the architect of test frameworks, the team’s go-to coach, and the bridge between deep tech and real-world performance. From RFQs to rollout, you’ll make sure we don’t just build it — we build it right, with confidence, speed, and zero nonsense. And yes — we are one badass team. We don’t do politics, bloated meetings, or bureaucracy. We get sh*t done, we have each other’s backs, and we’re ******* awesome at what we do.

• Develop and own the testing of our BESS software and hardware across the full product lifecycle
• Create and execute reusable, flexible, well-documented test frameworks (SIL/HIL) that make sense and scale with us — not against us
• Listen to your team of (currently) 5 FTE. Champion their ideas. Add your own. Push boundaries. Make them hyper effective
• Dig into root causes of hardware/software performance issues and propose solid, long-term solutions
• Be the connected lead during customer specific projects — translating complex needs into clean execution
• Your team gets first dibs on the newest innovations and prototypes, you'll be the bridge between R&D testing and Production testing
• Build and nurture relationships with certifying bodies to keep our products certified and market-ready

What do we expect you to bring to Big Ass Battery? 
It won't surprise you but we're looking for people with positive energy! You should be pumped about joining a fast-growing company bursting with ambition. You are curious, always eager to learn, and have a knack for testing. Let’s be real — this is no junior gig. You’re analytical, adaptable, persistent, and laser-focused to make customers happy. Next to that you are people-connected, and bring experience in a company that produces and ships physical products. Do you check these boxes?

• A Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics or electrical engineering or in a related field
• Enough years in testing to know where you are talking about; SIL/HIL, root cause analysis, design qualification and verification, Python, and test automation hold no secrets
• Experience in being a team leader is a must — you don’t play favorites. You don’t do politics. You build on trust and clarity
• You build up your team — not your ego — you facilitate regular 1:1's and team meetings, and maintain a high-performance, no-BS culture 
• You own all the  people stuff too — performance reviews, vacation approvals, salary discussions

• A salary that reflects the experience we are looking for, which must fit in the range €5.500 ~ €6.250 gross per month
• And of course, you receive 8% holiday allowance in May and a 13th month in December
• All the tools you need to excel at your job being a phone reimbursement of €25 net and a brand-new laptop to show off your skills!
• We follow the collective labor agreement Technisch Installatiebedrijf which includes the PMT pension scheme
• Enough time to recharge your personal battery with 25 vacation days and 13 additional days off (based on a 40-hour workweek) 
• Reimbursement of travel expenses at €0,23 per kilometer
