The role
As a Data Scientist, you are passionate about experience innovation and eager to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You bring 4+ YEARS of experience, a growth mindset and a drive to make a lasting impact.
Ideal candidates will have strong quantitative backgrounds and both academic/formal analytical skills and demonstrated hands-on experience in statistical modelling and information visualization. While they will have some demonstrated ability to write code, they will not have learned programming languages for the sake of building their resume, but rather as a means to express their intellectual curiosity and analytical voice. Role responsibilities
- Design and conduct statistical modelling based on business-level problem specifications.
- Design, select, and implement machine learning models for time-series forecasting, risk modeling, and root cause analysis.
- Analyze complex, raw data sets to uncover insights that drive meaningful impact for large enterprise clients, ensuring scientific rigor and explainability.
- Perform deep-dive analyses and design KPIs to guide strategic business decisions and measure outcomes from available data sources, or advocate for pragmatic data engineering to drive analytical products
- Build, document, and maintain data products enabling scalable analytics and ML services.
- Define reporting workflows, dashboard, data visualizations, and experimental designs to systematically evaluate hypotheses pertaiing to business.
- Translate analytical results into intuitive insights through interactive dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI) or custom web applications.
- Communicate technical concepts and data-driven recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including those in financial audit functions.
- Gather stakeholder requirements, conduct technical due diligence, and design pragmatic, high-impact solutions for financial sector clients.
- Lead the creation and tracking of project timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in banking, credit bureau projects, and financial audit environments to ensure alignment and compliance.
Must have qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Proven industry experience developing predictive or inferential statistical models OR a Master’s/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or similar quantitative field.
- 4+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or analytical roles.
- Experience implementing statistical and machine learning libraries and applying them effectively to real-world business challenges.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, with the ability to interface with each component in the full pipeline from data ingestion to insight.
- Experience with Azure Cloud (Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Functions, etc.).
- Translating compliance requirements to data artifacts and analyses that satisfy reporting requirements and systematize process monitoring.
- Experience working with financial services, banking, credit bureau data, or financial audit clients.
- Upper-intermediate English communication skills.
- Advanced Portuguese communication skills.
Nice to have qualifications
- Experience working in highly regulated industries (i,e, financial services, healthcare, legal).
- Proficiency in visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) or programmatic libraries (ggplot2, matplotlib, seaborn, Bokeh, D3).
- Hands-on experience with big data ecosystems (Spark, Hive, Impala, Pig, etc.).
- Expertise in multi-cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), with strong preference for Azure.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear technical approaches and actionable insights.
- Reporting and dashboard development, data storytelling skillset.
- Experience leading or managing technical data, analytics, or ML projects.
