Role Purpose: 

To work upstream and generate more direct opportunities with clients, Valtech is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as the Financial Services & Insurance Strategic Consulting Lead.  

This senior role will oversee strategy for a large portfolio of clients, as well as being involved in winning new engagements. 

They will be instrumental in driving Valtech’s thought leadership, client leadership, and strategic innovation in the Financial Services & Insurance sector. The ideal candidate will bring an expert understanding of digital transformation within Financial Services & Insurance, a proven ability to influence C-level executives, and a strong presence in key industry forums and events. 

The Financial Services & Insurance vertical focuses on Banking, Wealth, and Insurance.   

Withing these subcategories, we are focusing on the following propositions:  

  • Modernisations: such as GenAI & Data Foundations   
  • Connected IQ: such as Digital Fraud Prevention   
  • Intelligent Experiences: Next-Gen banking experiences.    

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Leadership: 

  • Drive growth within a portfolio of Financial Services & Insurance clients 
  • Act as the figurehead for Valtech’s Financial Services & Insurance consulting practice, inspiring teams and clients alike. 
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to cross-functional teams delivering Financial Services & Insurance projects. 
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders. 

 

Thought Leadership: 

 

  • Develop and promote Valtech’s perspectives on key trends and challenges within Financial Services, including: 
  •  Open banking and APIs 
  •  Embedded finance 
  •   Digital payment ecosystems 
  •   Blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi) 
  •   Cybersecurity and fraud prevention in digital banking 
  •   AI/ML applications in underwriting, wealth management, and fraud detection 
  •   Regulatory compliance and innovation (e.g., ESG reporting, GDPR, PSD2) 
  •   Customer experience transformation in Financial Services 
  •   Personalization and hyper-targeted financial products 
  •   Publish whitepapers, contribute to industry reports, and represent Valtech’s voice on relevant topics. 

 

Client Leadership: 

 

  • Build deep partnerships with Financial Services & Insurance clients, understanding their business challenges and delivering innovative solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Valtech’s global teams to co-create bespoke strategies that leverage emerging technologies and best practices. 
  • Drive business development and expand Valtech’s client base in Financial Services & Insurance. 

Practice Development: 

  • Mentor and grow a high-performing team of consultants specialized in Financial Services & Insurance. 
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives to upskill internal teams on industry trends and digital consulting methodologies. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Experience: 15+ years of consulting experience in Financial Services & Insurance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, specifically within retail banking, wealth management and insurance. Close relationships with key technology partners in the vertical.   
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of digital transformation, fintech, and the Financial Services landscape, including trends, challenges, and regulatory frameworks. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 
  • Thought Leadership: Proven track record of publishing articles, speaking at conferences, and leading industry discussions. 
  • Client Focus: Demonstrated success in building and maintaining senior-level client relationships on accounts that are 10m+  
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically. 
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Contributing to leading Financial Services publications such as The Banker, Finextra, or Financial Times. 
  • Participation in roundtables and think tanks hosted by institutions like Gartner or Forrester.
