About the Role
We're looking for passionate and detail-oriented Senior Data Engineers to join our platform team as we rapidly scale our stack for a new data-driven era at Swap. This role will drive change by building first-class data systems for the whole business, shape the platform vision, and drive internal best practices.
You will be a strategic contributor in architecting, optimising, and scaling our first-class data platform, which powers our next-generation customer-facing agentic systems. You will proactively lead collaboration with Product Managers and stakeholders to champion best practices and define the platform roadmap, ensuring our platform is robust and strategically prepared for future opportunities.

Key responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Engineering: Own, build, and optimise end-to-end data pipelines for key business functions. Focus on low latency, first-class observability, and robust alerting for both batch and stream processing to ensure data directly powers business and product goals.
- API Development and Strategic Contribution: Drive the design and implementation of new features within the API layer, collaborating with product teams to ensure efficient data access.
- Platform Vision: Provide strategic input and actively influence the technical direction of Swap's data platform, ensuring scalability and readiness for future business opportunities.
- Data Quality & Governance: Drive best practices and contribute to the development of governance processes to ensure the data is trustworthy, reliable, and scalable for delivering best-in-class products for Swap.
What we would like to see
- 5+ years of experience working as a data engineer on a customer-facing platform.
- Demonstrable Python experience working with MCP servers, data pipelines, orchestration, and API framework technologies. Ideally, but not limited to, Data Load Tool (dlt), FastMCP and FastAPI.
- Several years of experience working in a Google Cloud Platform environment, specifically GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Run, and Cloud Storage.
- Understanding of data warehouse architectures and best practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate and influence the technical vision and direction of the platform to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with e-commerce platforms, such as Shopify, is highly desirable.
- Experience working with batch and stream data pipelines.
- Any experience with a/b testing or conversion rate platforms or insurtech knowledge is additionally desirable.
