As a Staff Software Engineer within our Agent-Runtime domain, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical strategy and driving our mission to transform the contact center industry. You’ll be entrusted with the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical backend services—systems that serve as the backbone of Parloa’s success.

You will work closely with Jürgen and Ciaran to build the Agent Runtime.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Shape and Drive the Technical Vision: Define, communicate, and execute the technical roadmap for the Agent-Runtime domain, ensuring alignment with Parloa’s strategic objectives.
- Influence Architectural Excellence: Make and guide key architectural decisions, setting standards for scalability, security, and reliability across critical backend services.
- Champion Engineering Efficiency and Quality: Lead initiatives to optimize development workflows, improve system performance, and support sustainable growth.
- Lead by Example: Act as a technical leader within the team and organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and high performance.
- Bridge Technical Gaps: Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve gaps or inefficiencies in technical solutions and processes, collaborating across teams when needed.
- Advocate for Best Practices: Promote and enforce best practices in software design, testing, security, and operational excellence throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, and other teams to deliver resilient, observable, and high-performing systems.
- Own Service Quality: Define, monitor, and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs), ensuring exceptional service availability and reliability.
- Mentor and Grow Talent: Coach, mentor, and support engineers at all levels, sharing knowledge, driving technical discussions, and nurturing a growth mindset within the organization.
- Cultivate an Innovative Culture: Encourage experimentation, embrace diverse perspectives, and foster an environment where creativity and innovation thrive.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Expertise in designing, developing, and operating high-performance, low-latency software systems for real-time processing and streaming data.
- Deep proficiency in Python or TypeScript, with a focus on architecting scalable, maintainable, and testable solutions.
- Strong foundation in design patterns, clean coding, and data-intensive, event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka or Nats).
- Advanced knowledge of API design principles for efficient and scalable data flow solutions.
- Mastery of testing methodologies and tools within a test-driven development environment.
- Deep understanding of how product analytics can drive user-centric insights and create business value.
- Expertise in designing systems and leading complex technical projects (9-18 months roadmap)
- Thrives in fast-paced, agile environments, consistently delivering high-quality, scalable code while driving impactful projects to successful completion.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration skills, effectively communicating and working seamlessly across cross-functional teams to achieve shared business objectives.
- Passionate about mentoring and guiding junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and professional growth within the team.
- Proactively drives technical excellence, continuously learning and inspiring others to improve their skills and deliver impactful solutions.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills in English
