The Remote Assistance & Safety Operations team enables safe, efficient remote guidance for autonomous vehicle (AV) operations. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Safety, Legal, and Fleet Operations, we design and implement the strategy, processes, and technology that allow remote operators to monitor vehicles, intervene when necessary, and continuously improve real-time operations across markets.
What you will do
- Own the global strategy for Remote Guidance operations and align it with the overall AV roadmap.
- Drive the setup of Remote Operations Centers across Europe and North America, ensuring efficient and safe operations providing 24/7 coverage.
- Define and maintain SOPs for monitoring, remote intervention, escalation, and system recovery.
- Define operational KPIs, track performance, and drive continuous improvement based on analytical insights from our operations data.
- Partner with Engineering and Product in aligning product requirements and operational concepts.
- Lead safety and compliance efforts, including remote operator certification and adherence to local, state, and national regulations.
- Drive efficiency and scalability through automation, human–machine interface improvements, and tooling.
- Engage and manage technology vendors and partners; collaborate with legal, policy, and safety stakeholders.
What will help you to fulfill your role
- Solid senior operations management experience in autonomous systems, transportation, logistics, aviation, mission-critical control centers, or similar fields.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience (e.g., Logistics, Engineering, Business).
- Proven collaboration in complex, cross-functional environments; strong collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Process design & standardization experience (SOPs), excellent process understanding, including data flows and scenario thinking.
- Remote operations/teleoperations domain knowledge and familiarity with AV hardware/software stacks.
- Data-driven mindset with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Real-time decision-making under pressure and strong safety & compliance orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and cross-cultural collaboration ability.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to ~20%).
Nice-to-have:
- Workforce & capacity planning expertise; experience scaling multi-site 24/7 operations.
- Vendor & technology management; strategic operational planning and execution focus.
- Familiarity with AV regulations and incident documentation/reporting practices.
