The Opportunity

MariaDB is looking for a passionate problem-solver with experience in designing scalable automated testing systems  to join our team as Senior Cloud Test Engineer. You will work on a team dedicated to integration testing of our products. Your responsibilities will include the development and implementation of an architectural solution for testing our cloud technologies.

The Senior Cloud Test Engineer position offers you the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new testing focus for MariaDB products and build a quality assurance strategy for innovative MariaDB cloud applications. You will go beyond simply running tests and develop robust, scalable automation frameworks that ensure the reliability and performance of products deployed on major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

 

Responsibilities

  • Functional and regression testing of MariaDB server and components
  • Exploratory testing and communication with developers and product management in order to obtain details of feature specification
  • Writing test cases and automating test scenarios for performance testing, regression validation, and cloud configuration verification
  • Test result analysis, creation of reproducible test cases, defect reporting and drive quality improvements proactively
  • Collaboration with development, PM, and SRE to implement shift-left testing and quality engineering practices.

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of work experience in automation framework design & ownership
  • Good knowledge of Linux, hands-on experience with everyday maintenance/administration
  • Ability to perform work tasks on Windows, MacOS
  • Understanding and experience with MariaDB Server or other RDBMSs
  • Good knowledge of SQL, familiarity with NoSQL concepts, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Work experience with version control and defect tracking systems
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites is crucial
  • Proficiency in scripting languages
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm is a requirement
  • Experience using AI-enhanced tooling for automation, failure clustering, and analytics
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English
